I just got home from taking the NCLEX and i felt that Saunders did a good job with explaining content. Kaplan-maybe for strategy, but it all came down to content. i got 12 SATA, 2 med questions 3-4 infection control, 8 meds and i would say that 80% was prioritize, who would you see first, who is in the greatest risk. I also got 2-3 about floating nursings which i thought was weird b/c it asked what patient would you give this nurse from such and such unit. i know that is delegation, but i expected to be asked about lvns or nursing assistants. I got a lot of teaching patients. Endocrine, DM, peds cleft lip, and Botox!!! hope thst helps. i want to thank all who post on this wonderful site. it has truely been helpful. now i have to wait.....

Funny,
I posted almost the same thing. I felt more familiarity with Saunders, just reading and reviewing and doing the practice tests in the book and on the cd, I felt it helped me more for the board. I mean Kaplan was great, too, but Kaplan seems more harder than the board exam, but content info, was more with Saunders.
I just didn't feel too good about taking all 265 today, which took about 5 hours to complete! And I am in Cali, and the wait I am sure is at least 10 days since the 4th is coming up this week.
I had a huge amount of priority, and the RN's from another floor, and weird meds like endometriosis and anti-depressants!:paw:
emilysmom2, you and i are taking are test on the same exact day. i am in the same boat you are in. i started out studying with saunders but felt that the questions were not challenging enough. i let one of my co-workers scare me into purchasing the kaplan review, and i must admit these questions are very challenging but you still need to review content to answer them cause alot of the time the strategies do not apply. so i have gone back to doing saunders questions along with the kaplan review. good luck to you.
Thanks for confirming what I have been saying right along. They do the best job with rationales over any other book that I have reviewed. And I will continue to use them only in my reviews. Thanks again.
Suzanne,
after reading a number of your posts and suggestions about this Saunders book, i returned my Mosby's that I bought on Tuesday. I'm now the proud owner of a brand spankin new Saunders comprehensive review book, it came with a cd that has 4000 questions!!!! I didn't even see this book the other day.
Thanks a bunch, after looking more carefully I really like it alot more than the others. I'm now more confident in my studying.
Do you think if you just studied with kaplan that you would not have succeeded on the exam?I probably should hae read this earlier, my NCLEX is tomorrow, and I Just kinda did kaplan :/
My scores on kaplan were 70 (readiness) and 71 (post exam)...
Help?
Wow, I bet you passed with flying colors. I got a 62 on readiness and a 63 on post. Most of my classmates had similar scores as me and have already passed. I take my test on tuesday.

Does not matter which format that you are using, you should also be doing the same number of questions all along on a daily basis. So hard for me to tell you what you should be doing the last two weeks. I do not like anything more than a 100 per day, otherwise it is cramming and that does not work with this exam for most.
Best of luck on your exam.
