Hey y'all,
Starting a thread for students applying to DUofCA's BSN program for Fall 2021 to share questions and concerns. Application deadline is Feb 1st for Freshmen and March 1st for Transfers. Good luck to everyone!
Just now, Jade2010 said:Dominican is the first school I applied to. I am going to apply for Samuel this following June!
Did anyone get updated on the penguin website?
I think I didn't get in.... I didn't have any updates yet. So sad...
Don't think that! If you had everything in why would it update?
I hope they call soon

Don’t lose hope. What’s your stats? Do you have pre reqs you are still doing? Do you have volunteer experience? If not, let me know I can give you a location where you can gain patient/hospital volunteer experience if you want ☺️

That'd be great actually! Thank you. My volunteer hours are only 50 hours. I started doing it this year. I was doing it at Red Cross Blood Donor site.
I don't have any medical field experiences either.. It just made me feel so left out. Have you taken TEAS or HESI?
I have no medical experience besides my volunteer hours. What part of the Bay Area do you reside in? I’ll volunteer for Sutter Health in San Mateo but they also have paid gigs too if you’re interested as well.
I’m going to schedule my TEAS if I don’t get into to DU or USFCA in probably beginning of June; to submit my app for Samuel Merritt.
I live in north bay (Petaluma). I gotta look into that.
You have a high GPA. My prerequisite GPA is okay but my cumulative GPA is not very competitive. I attended a few colleges and first college that I attended when I was young, I honestly didn't know what I was doing.
I am just hoping I can get in somehow.... But It looks like it's really competitive almost everywhere. ?

You could definitely get into Gurnick in Concord.
But just wait! You might get into Dominican!! I hope you do. I hope all of us do. We are awesome so they should want us ?
I applied to USF Sacramento and did not get accepted. One of my classmates has a 4.0 and no volunteer experience and got denied from Sonoma, and she thinks she is not going to be accepted into sac state because of that. I did not apply to sac because I didn’t want to take the TEAS test. Kicking myself in the butt for not taking the TEAS. I didn’t know nursing school was this competitive ?

That’s a great and competitive GPA!! Have you looked around for volunteer opportunities? I volunteer for Sutter for transportation position and transport patients around the hospital or to their car. 3hrs/per week and they are always looking for volunteer. Let me know if you want more info! I think there’s a Sutter close by your area, trying look on their website too ?
