This thread is for anybody who is submitting their Application to Dominican University of California’s Fall 2022 Nursing Program by the March 1st deadline.
Just now, Curious87 said:? I wish they would have at least started releasing denials weeks ago. I have having to wait 3 months only to see a no. That’s the bad part.
I know, I wish they released it earlier or something. Their decisions come out so much later than a lot of other nursing schools
Hi all!
After reading all your comments I feel so discouraged! I am also a transfer from Seattle, and to hear they are only accepting 15 transfer student is so unfortunate. I already got denied by USF 3 times for fall 2022, (which I heard its extremely hard to get into!) but hoping to get into Dominican because it's more smaller.
Do you know how they calculate GPA's? Do they look at your overall classes? I've taken courses at two sister schools and another for organic chem.
Preq's 3.9
cumulative: I think 3.7 or 3.8 (but this is what I'm confused about, I've taken so many different classes that aren't on the preqs because the requirements for Seattle is way different)
I submitted only 1 letter of recommendation ( I didn't know you can submit more too LOL)
And have 9 years experience as a medical assistant. I don't know, it's super hard to get into nursing school but honestly hoping the best of you all!

I got denied from USFCA as well and my science GPA is a 4.0 and have over 7 years of medical experience, 5 years in the ER as a technician, im part of an honor society and have 3 LORs from 2 Dr's and a manager. I was reading in other threads that dental assistants, people with no experience in the medical field (even volunteering) and students with less than 3.5 GPAs were accepted, great for them, no doubt! but it does make you wonder how the process of accepting students into the nursing program happens, makes me wonder if it's computer generated since there are so many applicants?
@cyncin oh yes I bet!! All good grades and experience seems like it doesn't matter. I'm also apart of an honor society too! And hopefully they aren't generating applicants at random... the ADN programs I totally understand because there are more than 400 applicants. But hopefully we know soon, because it does make me sad that there's only a few spots available. We need more nurses!

Oh, that's interesting...I guess it is randomized somewhat? Has anyone asked (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) about this?

Hopefully they aren't but all private and ADN programs have been heavily impacted with applicants. Grades and experience should definitely be of the essence, esp since some students leave while in the nursing program because it's not what they had imagined, hopefully someone is in fact looking at our applications more thoroughly.
