Dominican University CA Fall 2022 Application Cycle

Published

This thread is for anybody who is submitting their Application to Dominican University of California’s Fall 2022 Nursing Program by the March 1st deadline.

I only applied to Dominican and USF this time because I wasn’t a Cali resident. I didn’t get in USF. I plan to apply to more schools for the Spring and next fall. Has anyone gotten an update on their portal? Mine now says something about Chem and Math.

Just checked my portal--no update/changes on my end. Maybe it's because your courses weren't listed on the transfer course equivalency chart, since you're from out of state, and they need to determine whether you satisfy the prereq requirements or something?

I'm also curious whether you guys have "back-up" plans if DUC doesn't work out for ya'll? I didn't apply to any other nursing school except DUC's this time around because, at this point, I'm not sure I'd want to keep pursuing nursing after this...I might just go into Sac State and take public health if all else fails (+if you guys know anything about the major/career prospects please tell me LOL).

I was originally interested in being an elementary teacher or HS English teacher, but I don't think I'm all too keen to stay in my current junior college even longer than I have already to take the classes I need for that...I guess we'll see, haha

I've been considering Nightingale (its an online BSN program) if all fails. Unfortunately, the RN programs in CA are heavily impacted, hope it works out for you!

I heard about Nightingale! How exactly would clinicals work though? And do they require TEAS/HESI?

Hey all! I also applied to the program. My stats are pre-reqs: 3.89 and overall is 3.65. Volunteer experience: 100 hours at urgent care. Year as a nursing assistant at Nursing home and currently working at Kaiser as a PCT since November. I actually got into USFCA nursing program and back then had a overall 3.92, but was disqualified by getting two C-. I’m not sure if getting kicked out of a program will hurt my chances and with the lower overall GPA.

I went in yesterday for a campus visit and fell in love with the area! So now, I'm even more eager to receive their decision, haha. I also met (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) and asked him some questions. He told me the latest for the decision is June 1st, but I hope there won't be any delay.

So there are 230-240 applications admitted for Fall 2022, but only 15 spots for the transfer student? Damn my chance of getting in is so low ?

15 spots for transfers is wow! So everyone else that gets accepted already goes to Dominican, I wonder if they automatically get accepted into the program...
