  1. Congratulations!! Guess we’ll be seeing each other at Dominican ??
  2. ANNOUNCEMENT: admissions results are out! I GOT IN!!! I’M SO HAPPY!
  3. Admissions counselor said early to mid November! (It's so close, aaaaa)
  4. Last I talked with the admissions counselor he said that because nursing is so competitive they've had to tighten their criteria. So technically you're allowed to apply with a prereq in-progress however in Fall 2022 (which was when I first applied + had a prereq in-progress) they said they didn't even read the applications which had something in-progress because of the crazy amount of applicants. I'm not sure if it'll be the same for this semester because they said sometimes they get less applicants than Fall and other times it's about the same or more...I've known people in the past who have gotten in with a prereq in-progress but it's just so different nowadays because of the competition.
  5. A few months ago he told me to email him in July as a reminder to move over my fall application to Spring. I did that twice but he never responded. However, I ended up checking my Penguin Portal out of curiosity and I guess he ended up doing it! He just never told me he did...Btw everything on my fall application ended up on the Spring one. So, if your LORs were already on your fall app, it would also be on your Spring app (assuming he moved it over).
  6. Oh wow, thanks for popping in! Congrats again on being accepted btw ?
  7. Hi! I'm applying for Spring 2023 too. I had also applied for Fall 2022 but was rejected from the nursing program because I had organic Chemistry in-progress. However I was offered enrollment as an undeclared major with a scholarship but I didn't take it. What are your stats? Here's mine: 4.0 GPA (completed all my prereqs), hospice volunteering 2-4hrs/week since October 2021, 1 LOR, member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Good luck to us!
  8. I also asked him whether the number of applicants was higher in the Spring or fall and he said that it depends. Because Dominican is one of the few universities to accept Spring applicants, it can get pretty busy around that time as well.
  9. Hello everybody! I just finished having a meeting with the admissions counselor and here's some info I got from that: Because there were only 11 spots for transfers and so many qualified applicants, they had to deny many with in-progress pre-req's to filter it somehow (I had organic chem in progress during my application). So, if you had an amazing application/stats and you were wondering why you might've been rejected--that may be why! He also said that perhaps 2 years ago I would've been waitlisted but because it's much more competitive now, they had to do this. So, he told me to email him mid-July to move over my application to Spring + update my transcripts with all my completed courses. (But, of course, admittance isn't guaranteed.) I'd recommend getting in contact with the admissions counselor to fully discuss the results of your application, because being left in the dark doesn't feel very nice LOL. My meeting with him definitely cleared a lot of things up and I feel a whole lot better!
  10. Aw darn ? I wonder how many applicants typically apply during Spring sem...
  11. Hmm, I don't think so? You have to be enrolled in order to accept it. But if you do apply again in Spring, you might receive the same scholarship again since not much would have changed (financially, etc.) since the last application! So your 6 months of renewal would start from that Spring sem (assuming you get accepted in the Spring). But I'd ask (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) to be sure.
  12. OK nvm I found out the deal with the merit scholarship: you can renew it for 6 semesters (req. full time enrollment and a certain GPA I think). I believe it's an annual scholarship, but it's divided in half between the fall and Spring sem.
  13. For those who got a scholarship: do you know if this is only a one-time thing, or if you get it every academic year??? That's what I wanna know LOL. It seemed like a majority of this forum got denied ?
