Dominican College ABSN / WABSN program 2020

Published

Hello everybody!

I recently applied to Dominican College WABSN 2020 and would like to meet current applicants, current or former students. The weekend program is very convenient for working adults, that is the main reason why I chose it. However, there are no reviews about this program, I would like to read about others experience and thoughts about the school/nursing program in general.

Everybody is welcome to this post, let's share our experience through this process.

Thanks!

Hi Everyone!!!

I applied to the ABSN Weekday option back in August. Had all my transcripts in. Completed the writing placement and registered for any prerequisites needed. I've been waiting to hear back ( since it was indicated that we'd hear back in the Fall) but no luck! I emailed the director and basically she said that they are filled to capacity for the May 2020-2021 nursing program. However, if there are any openings, they would contact me by May 1st. I'm also very upset and frustrated as well. So for those who haven't received a letter, this could be why.

That sounds really frustrating. I'm sorry ?

I'm just confused because I had a 3.3 gpa, A's in science, sociology and psychology courses besides a B+ in statistics and anatomy II. I guess I'll have to go elsewhere. Congratulations to you and to all who've gotten accepted, I wish you all the best of luck!

Since it's a small cohort maybe they selected 30 students before they got to your application. So dont give up! Apply again!

@FutureDNPSM Is that how many students they select? I would think they would have gone through all applications before deciding but who knows lol. Thank you for the encouragement! I would have to wait a year ?

If I remember correctly I read somewhere they accepted 60 students between the two accelerated options and of course we all want to succeed so next year will be you year!! Good luck.

Oh okay, I hope so. Best of luck to you!

That is weird. Definitely call and ask how you could improve your application for next year. Maybe it wasn't about the grades

@Ana123 Yea I find it weird as well. I fulfilled all the requirements, perhaps it could've been my gpa? I thought I would be fine with a 3.3 since they required a 2.7 and up. But that's a good idea and hopefully I will have better luck next time.

Yeah because your stats sound like mine, so I wonder if there was something else. Knowing what one school thinks of your application can be helpful when applying to other schools too. Best of luck

@Ana123 Really? If you don't mind me asking, what was your gpa? Exactly, that's what I'm looking to do because I will be applying elsewhere but thank you and good luck as well!
