I hear about this cpne clinical from ec,,, do they give you any special guides or prep for this in particular? and skills sheets/dvd? surely you don't just have to happen to know how to set up a sterile field and what supplies to use for packing a wet to dry wound that you havent done in months. ?? thanks.
How many times can you go back to take the cpne if you fail? Is their a limit before you have to take nursing school over again as a whole? thanks.

Three strikes and you're out.
Their is a lawsuit going on over the CPNE so that may be subject to change depending on the ruling, if it gets to the inside of a courtroom.

They do give you a complete study guide that tells you exactly what you need to know and exactly how to do it. Also, you have access to advisers that will answer questions and they will critique care plans and pcs forms for you. The wait time for a clinical date can be 3-6 months which gives you plenty of time to practice your skills and learn them the EC way.

Be advised that not all criticism of the CPNE is the result of ill-prepared, disgruntled students refusing to take responsibility for their own failure. The process is not always above board. That is the chance one takes when one decides to go this route.
You can take the CPNE 3 times.

I think they should change something about it because some people are just out for really stupid mistakes, but I should recognize the pressure is good for you to get prepared, at the end of the day you are dealing with lives and you can't take any chances.

There is a lot of info on EC's page about the CPNE as well as the entire ADN program. Here is the CPNE info, to include learning resources: Excelsior College | CPNE®

I seriously wouldn't count on the CPNE changing anytime soon, if at all.
