I am thinking about becoming a CNA but I have heard some bad things, for example that I will have to wipe butts/ Is this true? Is there any where I can be a CNA and not have to do this? How can I get around it? What parts of the hospital can I work in that are not so totally gross. I can deal with surgery , just not poop.

Seriously? Nursing in general involves body fluid and cleaning it up. C.N.As, R.Ns, and L.P.N's clean up body fluid. If that is an issue an office job would, probably, be ideal for you. Best of luck. Oh, and there is body fluid involved with surgery.

Are you serious????/ We are the brave ones that do the things no one else will or wants to do. not only will you deal with poop, you've got vomit, c-diff, pneumonia, MRCA, VRE, Dementia,UTI, Depression, Wandering, punching,Hep. A, B and C, biting, kicking, slapping, bathing, dressing, toileting, dying.....I can go on and on, but that would take days. I hope you get the point. and next time, look it up on this wonderful thing we now call "THE INTERNET"
Now that all of us hard working nurses and cna and what have you got a Reallllllllllyyy good laugh from this one, I hope your question has been answered... This really sound like this is not for you. Dont you have kids??? or wipe your own butt????
Now go on, and work as a "med-surg cna" filled with rainbows and candy and smiles, and have fun. Oh and by the way, is there a way to get me on working with you????
I don't think this question is a joke and I think it's rude to pretend like she said her problem is a fear of poop. I've heard the saying "Nurses eat their young". Is that what this is? Pride rearing it's head and eating up the ones who don't have a good understanding and some fears? I thought it was the right idea to bring her concerns straight to the source, and get real opinions and advice, but obviously not because there is very little to be had here.
I'm about to take a CNA course myself and my greatest concern is about touching other people's genitals. Not the poop. And I have a feeling that is what this questioner's main concern is too. Laying your hands on other people's private parts. These people may have STD's, or are just perverts. It's not something people are exposed to throughout their lives.

Wouldn't you still have to wipe anyway, to dry off? You'd be nice and damp down there. o.O
