I feel like a loner because I haven't actually heard anyone say they like/love nursing school and I'm truly enjoying it. I've been a sahm for the past five years and have struggled to fill the time. I am completely thriving on the busyness of nursing school. Granted, I'm only a couple of months in and haven't experienced bad teachers or instructors--everyone has been extremely supportive so far.
Come out of the woodwork, fellow nursing school lovers!
I was in the happy "this is so great-I'm so glad to be in this program" mode last year. This year, though, I have lost my buzz, and am looking forward to graduation.
That being said, I think I will miss school when it's over. All of a sudden, it's gonna be, "Ask the nurse", and people will be looking at ME!!! Yikes!!!
I am currently in the "hate" stage of nursing school. Mostly, its due to the devil incarnate of a professor for one course and other bureaucratic issues, and not necessarily of the school work/material in and of itself.
I start my immersion in the spring and can.not.wait. I am just so ready to be at clinical 24/7 and not in the classroom. I want to be with patients and not have my head in the books...I am so the person who learns most by doing and I love one on one time with patients.
i love nursing school.. it might be because i have an awesome clinical instructor this semester...and one of my best friends in the program with me..... but i really do love :redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe nursing school.
the thought of clinicals used to TERRIFY me...to the point of every single day i felt like a fraud, like i shouldn't be there..like i really didnt know what i was doing..and are they reallllly trusting me to be alone with this pt? what if something goes wrong..and i don't know what to do? that's how nervous i would get. but now.... wow. i LOVE clinicals. my favorite ones are when i get to do new procedures. love. :loveya: i can do without lectures and WOW some of my classmates? i really hope to NEVER see them again. (can we say obnoxious..)
but overall....NS is AWESOME!
I'm only about halfway through my first quarter, but I really like (dare I say love?) nursing school. I feel actually CHALLENGED for the first time in my life--and having slept through 11 years of compulsory education and 2 years of college (in the honors program) with good grades & minimal effort before beginning nursing school, I can say that I'm really happy to have to use my brain for once.
(I'm in an LVN program, btw...not that it matters, but I love the accelerated pace.)
There are things I don't like, of course (can you say learning a skill and being checked off on it the NEXT DAY?) but for the most part *so far* I like it.
I agree that everyone has a "love/hate" relationship with school...but mine is mostly "love". Nursing school for me has been such a wonderful experience...the only "hate" I have with is when all of the assignments/tests/papers and other things pile up on each other. Oh, and the amount of studying you have to do is ridiculous sometimes...but in the end it will all pay off and it's worth it!

I'm in my last semester of an ASN program. I loved it until this semester but now im getting too caught up in the politics of it. Why would they charge fifty dollars (minimum) for a pin for the pinning ceremony? I can get one online for 10 dollars...
I love the classes and I love clinicals, but I don't like jumping through hoops.
