Make and keep a running list of all previous jobs including supervisor's names, business address, position, duties, reason for leaving and starting and ending pay.

Start now with collecting several personal references. Ask people first if you can use them as a reference. Update this list every 6 months to a year.

Sad as it is, these days I'd have a copy of my birth certificate to prove you are who you say you are.

Copies of any certifications (BLS, ACLS, etc.)

Just started a new job, required college transcript, from 20 years ago!!!! Gee, I have had an active license for that long, isn;t that enuf?? guess not ( also first time I ever had to show it)

My current employer demanded a copy of my policy. This is the first time a new employer wanted this document. Needless to say, I know where I stand if there is ever a lawsuit resulting from my employment with them.

They actually are required to make the copy of your nursing license from the original, they cannot accept a copy of it from you. That is not permitted by an state BON.

Specializes in Home Health Care.

I also needed my CPR card and TB test to copy.
