Doctors and Nurses?

Nurses General Nursing

Is it ever ok for a nurse and a doctor to date if they do so discretely? Is it worse for a nurse to ask a doctor out or if the doctor asks the nurse out does that make it ok? sorry if it has been discussed before. Just wondering what everyone's opinion is on this topic?

Are you serious?

If you are, I personally don't think it's ever a smart idea to date someone you work with and that includes the docs (it's also a little too cliche for me, brings up the whole "I wanna be a nurse so I can snag a rich doctor" idea and I wouldn't date the vast majority of docs I know if you paid me!). But, as long as you're both adults, you can do whatever you want and no, it doesn't matter who asks who out.

Yes it's o.k. It doesn't matter who asks who out. It's 2004 anyone is asking anyone out these days. It's no one's business.

I believe it is ok, just like any other situation. Are you both single, will anyone else be hurt if you connect? I know many doctor and nurse married couples and it works out just fine. Keep it out of the work place just as you would if you dated the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker

Many people meet their spouses through the work environment. I don't think medicine is or should be any different.

I only see aproblem IF one of them is a direct supervisor or they must work very closely. Then things go sour and there's heck to pay. Otherwise, why not (I personally wouldn't marry a nurse or a doctor if given the choice, but love is love...)

I knew of a nurse who was married to a doctor - she told me he asked her out on his first date during a circumcision - I wasn't GAME to ask where he had proposed marriage:rotfl:

would any of you feel irritated, burdened or whatever to know of such a secret (if the doc-nurse relationship hadn't been revealed) or to have to witness that type of relationship in your work space?

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Personally, I don't want to see evidence (ie kissing in the back room, hugging, little pet names) in the workplace. Its a place of business not a dating house. That said, if people conduct themselves as adults, its no one's business - keep it away from work. Life is short - be happy.

I hope you are happy with your life coz "LIFE IS SHORT" Do not care any body but you have to have a suitable date.

Have a nice date with your lover.

Do not forget "LIKE IS SHORT"

:rotfl: :rotfl: I agree, for the most part they're not my type either. But where I work there are a few nurse-doctor, nurse-nurse, doctor-paramedic, nurse-unit clerk couples. But as long as both of you are consenting adults ask that hottie out OP!!!

I dated a cardiologist and a surgeon. I worked on Med/Surg at the time, and did not really see them very often. All of the personal relationship was outside of the workplace. That is the way I think it should be handled. :)
