I'm not very politically correct. I call them freaks.
As in "Yo, there's a freak in room 7" (and room 4 and room 9).
Just remember Haldol and Ativan are our friends...

FWIW, I have a good (and very warped) sense of humor. I just don't find the terms "crazy" or "freak" terribly funny when we're discussing the mentally ill. It's sad to see that the stigma is still alive and well in the 21st century.....no wonder it's so hard for people to get better, when even professionals sit in judgment and make fun of them.

i was just a psych pt in the er a few weeks ago. However I spent it chatting with my nurse and my friend that was with me, watching My Strange Addiction on my iPad and trying to put on a brave face even though I felt like dying. I hope that doesn't make me a "freak."Were not all delusional or psychotic... Some of us have pretty good hearing too and can hear the comments from beyond the curtain.
