Do you use music therapy?

We have a sound system set up in our unit, but we don't use it. We were once told that we can't use it in the presence of O2, which I am going to be looking into. Do any of you use the speaker things like they have in regular rooms in the beds? Or what, if anything, do you use?

No kidding. I'm being conditioned for murder by having to listen to the same 3 Beethoven/Bach/Mozart tunes from the same mobile 12 hours a night x 4 shifts a week....

I think I've become immune to that mobile. A kid in the room had hers on most of the night. She was crying and I told her nurse that I would restart it for her, since I was sitting right by the crib. It was already on. I just didn't notice!

They are teaching us to think more holistically in the care of our patients. How more holistic can you get than music therapy geared to the development of the infant in question. I would be so interested in any other information you may find.

As far as grants go, check out Universities local and not. Nurses Associations (NANN, etc). U.S. Goverment. (couldn't find grants to help buy a house, but boy can you find goverment grants for just about everything else).

I have been known to make up and sing songs using the babies' names to this mobile. Only our older babies have mobiles, my pukey buddy had this mobile. Not her real name but my song went like this;

Meg, Meggy, Meg, Meggy, lu lu lu

why you like why you like to puke uke uke uke

on your nurse on your nurse down to her shoe ew ew ews

You get the picture, not a pretty one, but the baby loved it.
