Do you take your work wherever you go?

The ways in which I counteract germs and getting sick are through moderate exercise, proper sleep, and a healthy diet....including water, teas, vegetables and fruits. These practises work wonders against germs. I'm sick once every two years, if that.

Not germaphobic at all......As for my friend who is also a nurse...she lives in her nursing scrubs and wears them after work including going to the nightclub at the casino, eating at restaurants, going to church , doing groceries, shopping in the mall, playing slots at the casino

.... she works in public hospital and sees 300 patients a day....

Does it seem like somehow we are to be germ phobic by design? Believe it or not, there were people who actually lived before the invention of antibiotics, Hand Sanitizer, Medicare, Medicaid and Obamacare. Perhaps being fearful makes people more likely to support any/all Big Government plans concerning healthcare.

That's exactly it. Some of you might be shocked to work with 40 seniors and observe their table manners. Saliva, goobers, all kinds of lovely fluids and various items find their way onto the tables, floors, and into their mouths. For the most part, they're fine. I don't get sick working with them, either. I try to practise proper infection control, but I'm certainly not overly concerned, especially on days off. Somehow, we've survived as a species, germs and all.

I am! I always take a shower the moment I arrive work from work. Always.

And the shoes, I always leave them outside the patio.

I'm not. Wasn't as a CNA either. Wash hands, wash the produce, wash clothes, but hey, dirt happens. My family generally isn't ill often.

And for those people wearing their scrubs out in public...well, perhaps they are shopping before their shift. Perhaps they didn't have direct contact with clients, or their clients generally don't have infectious diseases. I wear scrubs from time to time out and about, I'd love to know that some nurses are judging me as a horrible infection vector because I'm in public wearing my scrubs that *didn't go outside of our simulator lab*.

That's just weird, germy or not. Scrubs are a uniform. My husband was a Marine and couldn't even pump gas in his BDUs. I think of scrubs like BDUs. It is not appropriate to be "in public" in uniform. It is just weird.

No. I'm definitely not a germaphobe. I do practise good hand washing at home, my work shoes are just worn at work, and my house is clean....but that's where it ends. I'm not spending my off hours worrying about germs.

yep this is also how I do things. just to add, I change my clothes before going home and wrap my working clothes and put it in the laundry bag

I agree that hospitals technically are cleaner than some places...but not as clean and familiar germs as at home. I honestly disinfect my stethoscope after every patient for their safety, than again before it goes in my bag. But, my shoes only get disinfected when a flash flood of bodily fluids attacks . I've declared the front entrance to be the dirty area of my home, and shoes just are filthy if you think about it. But if you think about it more, our feet are specifically designed to be submerged in the disgusting things the world can hash out for us .

No I'm not a germophobe. If I'm sick, I do encourage tellers to clean their hands after handling my money or clean shopping cart handles after I use them, and I'm more conscious of cleaning my hands more often. It's more to protect other people from me though.
