Do you take any stimulants?

Published

I was curious as to nursing students and nurses alike, do you take any stimulants other than coffee to stay alert? I was working 2 jobs once and was subsisting off 2 or 3 hrs sleep a nite back 10 yrs ago. It was ephedra based but has since been banned because people were abusing it. This other guy introduced me to a product many years ago that worked but I can't remember if it was called "Uptime" or "Ultra Energy Now". They were herbal based. What do you use?

How much caffiene does a No-Doze tablet have compared to one cup of drip coffee?

200mg per pill - about 2 cups of coffee. If I take a whole pill at once, I get jittery.

I've been a heavy caffeine addict since early high school, so I just continued my habit. On my off days when I can sleep in I have about 8 cups of coffee (meaning 8 on the coffee maker, it's only maybe 4-5 actual mugs). When I was in school, I had a cup at home, a travel mug for the drive in, and a big thermos to get me through the day. Now that I'm working, I still do my cup at home and the travel mug, then I supplement by refilling the (16 oz I think) travel mug 3-4 more times at work. This is just to remain functional, I literally can't see to drive my car that early in the morning if I haven't pounded a cup before leaving the house. It's not because of nursing school or 12 hour shifts though, I've had this habit for years. I did used to use diet pills with ephedra when I was earning my first degree and working full time, they were legal then (10 years ago or so), not sure if they still are. I used them purely for the help in staying awake though.

Coffee and iced tea. Sometimes diet soda. Several of my classmates use Stackers caffeine pills. A couple weeks ago one of them tried a new kind of Stackers and she was not at all well. Her pupils were huge, she was jittery and shaky, and she couldn't think straight. Scary.

Hello All!

I work and attend school with a family and hubby-fact of life. Since I pooped and pee-ed non-stop (with a little nausea) when I used to drink those "Energy Drinks", I was wondering if there is a safer stimulant that would keep me alert and not swinging from the rafters with the crash afterwards. I have tried natural stimulants like dried fruit, almonds, oranges, etc., yet, with a 17 hour work/school day, I need a bit of something to help me. What is also frustrating is that coffee affects me in the same way as Energy Drinks do. Thanks in advance.:smilecoffeeIlovecof

Got to love the legal Adderall prescriptions. Nothing works as well as amphetamines. :D

Anything more than coffee is such a waste, and so bad for you. Besides good coffee tastes so much better. Smells so much better. I just love it waking up in the morning and my housekeeper already as a nice fresh strong coffee already brewing for me. Life is grand.
