Do male nurses wear scrub jackets???

I'm not talking about lab coats. I'm talking about the thin and light scrub jackets that have buttons on them and the tapered, elastic cuffs. Mostly I see only women nurses and lab techs wearing these, what about male nurses when it gets extra cold?

One of the guys in my cohort wore a scrub jacket all the time - partly to serve as a cover for his tattoos!

When it's cold I usually wear long sleeve t shirts under my scrubs.

Working in a psychiatric hospital everybody wears scrub jackets or multi-layers of clothing.

Yes, they make male cut scrub jackets, I have the Landau version. extra pockets are a godsend.

Have to wear them in the OR, but frankly, it's too hot in there with a jacket on.

I thought ORs were cooler because of infection control?

Our ER is somewhat lax in this area. I'm not a nurse but they allow us to (more like don't ever say anything) wear sweatshirts, jackets (think Columbia, North Face) over the scrub tops even in patient care areas. But to answer your question, no. Not that I've seen, anyway...

I wear one sometimes, mostly because it gets cold at the nurses station when I'm charting. I don't wear long sleeved t-shirts because I can't stand having my arms covered while I'm working, handling meds etc. Gets on my nerves. Employer mandates a certain style of scrub jacket, and it has to be white.

Now that I work in Northern Ontario I wear cycling midweight fleeces (handy lumbar pockets) and hoodies over my scrubs because environmental/mechanical services is garbage in terms of having the whole hospital at the same reasonable temperature. But in a pinch I have worn patient gowns backwards like a cape and stolen surgical gowns from laundry.

Yes! They don't really care what we wear over our scrubs here. In fact, the bottoms are usually the only thing that remains in dress code around here, lol. Most people just wear their assigned color scrub bottoms with a plain or company logo t-shirt.

I wear scrub jackets. (I think I'm still a man, but after reading this thread I'm not so sure) After 30 years as a "Male Nurse", I can't imagine I have any manliness left. If I'm cold- we aren't allowed to wear a lab coat- a scrub jacket is fine with me. My wife is good enough to make me one out of scrub material with the buttons/snaps on the "male" side, and a bit heavier cuff. If anyone thinks this looks a bit feminine- a couldn't care less for myself, I just hope I look pretty enough for them to appriciate me.
