Do you know any reputable placement agency for Canada?

I think http://www.staffingsolutions.com but they are mostly in BC last I checked.

But are you looking for an agency because you already are in Canada and licensed to work and have a visa, or to get you thru the process of being able to work in Canada?

Very big difference in this when it comes to International nurses, same as with the US.

It is not a staffing agency per se that you are looking for but a recruitment agency that deals with foreign nurses.

Yes I need a an agency to get me thru the process of being able to work in Canada...

Is it true that these recruitment agencies milk their nurses? that they take a big chuck out of your salary?

You do not need an agency for Canada, many do it without and have no problems. Just do a search both in this forum and the Canadian forum. You need to meet requirements for the province you want to live in, they will then give you permission to sit CRNE or if you need to complete a bridging program. You can then approach hospitals regarding assistance with work permit. They will more than be happy to help you through the process

They are both huge cities and are very different from each other. Toronto is an all-business city pretty much, although they have great cultural activities, parks and recreational areas. Vancouver is more of a relaxed place; some call it Lotus-Land. It has more of a Pacific Rim flavor. The most cosmopolitan city in the country by far is Montreal. It's old-world, it's big business, it's fun and frivolity, it's multicultural. It all depends what you're looking for.

the CRNE is like NCLEX for the states right? So i'll just email the hospitals, that easy?coz i thought it would be easier to have agency so theyre gonna be the one to look for a job for me.

Ive read in of the threads here that before i could take the CRNE i need to like have a practical exam or experience first IN canadian soil before taking the CRNE

ohh i thought montreal is the least cosmopolitan among the 3 cities, i was thinking toronto's the most coz theyve got the CN tower. LOL. so montreal's like the new york of canada?

CRNE is not like the NCLEX, it is different and centers on different things. Suggest a search on CRNE. You have to apply to the province and they decide if you need to bridging course or not. Many foreign nurses do not have practical exam or experience before working. Some provinces will give you a permit which allows you to work under a RN whilst waiting to sit the exam which is only held 3 times a year in Canada on a temp work permit. Most hospitals will have some experience in assisting foreign nurses

Good luck

oh okay. will i be the one to shoulder all the expenses? the CRNE exam, the airfare to canada, immigation fees and stuff?

Yes but you may be able to get something back from the hospital. That is something you need to discuss with them. They may meet you half way but I know from my husband's experience on temp work permit the paperwork was easy to complete and as long as you have LMO from your employer and submit that with any fees you will get notification to have a medical (cos your job will be in healthcare) and everything is sorted within I believe 4-6 months. May take a bit longer if you wait to pass CRNE before you move but if the province gives you permission to work as a GN whilst waiting to sit CRNE the processing times are what I mentioned although are a rough estimate
