hi guys, i just have a question about the teas and pre-req class.
im trying to apply for BSN for 2013-2014.
im going to take physio in fall 2012 and micro in spring 2013 so i can finish all the pre-reqs just on time.
but the weird thing is that the school im trying to apply wants the teas score by december 2013 but they let you take micro in spring 2013 and send the grade by june 2013.
i'm really confused about this. since they give an extra semester to take micro, I thought teas wouldn't cover micro.
but now im hearing from people that teas DO cover micro....
if you guys could help me out, that will be great!!!! :'(
oh and also, since im taking the teas in december 2012, which version do i need to study?

I imagine you'd be taking version 5.
Microbiology is not covered on the TEAS. Let me rephrase that. You could probably benefit from taking microbiology, but microbiology is not covered on the test directly. Everything on the TEAS science portion are topics covered in 7-12. Putting things into perspective, I took my TEAS test before I took A&P and did OK.

I think you will be okay without Micro. Physiology is absolutely necessary, in my opinion. A general bio class also helps, if you've taken it.

No, I don't think it's necessary. The TEAS I took focused heavily on A&P 1 and 2 and chemistry, but it was just basic stuff. I would recommend purchasing the TEAS V official study guide. It has good practice tests and reviews on material you may not remember.

Which Teas study guide did you use?

oh and I meant to say "I have to send my physio grade by december 2012" not december 2013
Also, do you guys have any suggestions for books? besides teas V official guide?
and how long should i study for the teas????????
im planning to study for this summer from the end of july to the end of August.
and i'll be taking physio in fall.
do you think that will be enough time for me? studying the Teas while taking Physio?

The one published by ATI, the creator of the test.
It sells at my schools bookstore for $80.
You can get it from the publisher for $44 plus shipping.

You should get the book titled 5 TEAS Practice Tests from amazon.com. I took the TEAS two months ago and personally, this book helped me more than the TEAS V Official Study Guide, but your test may be different.
Here's what it looks like: BARNES & NOBLE | McGraw-Hills 5 TEAS Practice Tests by Kathy Zahler, McGraw-Hill Companies, The | NOOK Book (eBook), Paperback
I think it's like $12 on amazon.com.
I studied from the official ATI TEAS V study book. I thought it was in depth and very helpful.
I only had 4 days to study so I made studying my full time job for those 4 days. I passed with an 89% so you'll be fine if you study in the summer and after your physiology class.

General bio and chemistry were covered extensively on mine. I don't really recall a micro question, but I'd say it's important to know about the "chain of infection" or whatever it's called.
