DNP Touro Nevada

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hello all. I saw that Touro Nevada DNP program is 1 year 33 units. I really like the fact that it is accelerated. Does anybody have any experience with Touro's DNP online program?

I graduated in 2016. The pace is BRUTAL. Three, 16 weeks terms with only a week off between.

My cohort of 16 graduated 14.

Wow! I am a little nervous now. I didn't want to spend 2 years for a DNP program and thought 1 year would be awesome. Now I am having second thoughts.

It's doable- just a lot of work. If you can write well, you're golden.

I second Mary's comments. I have 8 weeks left and feel like I am dragging my half dead carcass to the finish line. We started with 15 in our cohort and now have 10 left standing...It's great to complete in a year but like Mary said, the pace is brutal...Good luck on your decision!

Did you work while in the Touro program? I have looked into it because it is budget-friendly and quick. I know this post does not reflect it, but I am a good writer. I did the MSN in Nursing Ed on line with , but now am finding it impossible to get a faculty position at the BSN level without a DNP or PhD. I do not consider myself a DNP "type" but the PhD would be so expensive and time-sucking. I need to work right now, also.

Everyone in my cohort was either a full-time faculty or full time staff RN somewhere during the program.

*Shout out from a fellow grad (and current faculty)

I will be applying for the program to start next year. I hope I can do this. I have done an accelerated BSN program. The regular BSN program was 3 years, but the ABSN was 1 year.

From what I recall when I checked it out, the Touro DNP program is more executive than clinical, isn't it?

Correct.

How does the practicum/clinical portion of the program work? On their website it states the DNP mentor need not be in close proximity geographically. Does the intensive writing culminate in the final project? Thank you!
