Disturbed Energy Field

I was looking through my Doenges nursing dx book, and there is a NANDA dx of Disturbed Energy Field as evidenced by objective things like waves, spikes, color changes, or holes in the pt energy flow. What the heck?! :icon_roll I wrote it in as a possible dx on my final care plan, my teacher was cracking up.

Agreed... don't hock it and don't knock it. It's pretty much just religion so far as I can see, and should be treated precisely the same way.

There is nothing religious about TT or disturbed energy fields. There is no dogma or doctrine one must follow to be a TT practitioner.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (division of NIH) is funding/has funded clinical trials involving TT and Reiki:

So yes, attempts are being made to answer some of the questions some posters have raised.

You're paying someone money to move around energy that doesn't actually exist as a treatment modality. Sounds the same to me...

A few years ago I had a woe, some ailment, (can't even remember what it was now), and a friend insisted on sending me to a retired RN who did therapeutic touch. I went to be polite just because my older lady friend insisted and she even paid for it. I felt nothing. It didn't help. Maybe some of us are more suggestible than others.

I suspect any perceived benefit is due to a placebo effect.
