Discouragement

Published

Why do some of you say this, no test/review could prepare you for the nclex. This is such a discouragement! If this was the case, how do people actually pass the nclex?

That's ok. Then it is only $109. But the book is the same for the LPN and the RN as far as content, it changes only on the test. The explanations are the same and if you are planning to become an RN then is better to buy the RN one instead.

BTW I did Kaplan PN Q-bank too, and passed at 85 questions last year when I got my LPN license

Ya, $109 is pretty good price. I am going to purchase it and give it a shot.

I just have a fear of not passing the exam the first time. Thanks for all of your help.

Be sure to read the book before you practice the questions, that is the most important part, learn the strategies.

Thanks for the tip. I will learn the strategies starting tomo. Thanks again hun.

Your welcome! and I hope you go on to get the RN

Thanks. I will start my RN study in about a year.

Is the Kaplan book all about the strategies? if i purchase the qbank, for sure along the way i will learn the strategies.

I would love to purchase the Qbank, but is the book necessary?

thanks

The book teaches you alot about prioritization (going back to Maslow), as well as other test taking hints for NCLEX (ie when to assess, when to implement). I personally don't feel as if I use the stratagies that much when answering questions, but maybe I just don't realize it. You could probably find a book cheap on Amazon or eBay, that way if it's not helpful for you, then you won't be out much. :)

I took the NCLEX-RN this past Wednesday and found out that I passed yesterday. I will tell you there is NO SURE WAY to study for this exam. I was a pretty good student in nursing school, ya know, mostly B's. I have a Saunders book that I kind of used. But I only started studying last Sunday... Probably would not suggest that for everyone, but when I took the test on Wednesday..... I knew maybe...hmmm.... 5 questions total, out of 75?? lol The rest I completely guessed on because they were out of nowhere! I had 18 SATA and many many med questions (which I will admit, I did not study alot of) like teaching and side effects. I walked out of that test KNOWING that I failed. I cried for two days and Thursday night I couldnt sleep! But I passed. How? I have no idea. But I know I didnt study as much as I should have, didnt use Kaplan or anything like it, just did a few questions here and there and yes, I crammed the night before... lol. But after taking the test, I dont know what else or how much more I could have studied to become "comfortable" because you can do 50,000 questions and still walk out "knowing" that you failed. Once you take the NCLEX, you will understand what Im saying!!!

Yes! the book is necessary, and you need to read it before practicing the questions. You will feel like you are no using the strategies while taking the actual test, but unconsciously, you are. I am not saying you'll pass for sure, but it did work for me and I passed at 75 questions in only 1 hour 40 minutes. You still will think you failed!

i bought the kaplan 2007 book, last year in a discount store. Back then i didnt know that NCLEX is continously updated, now that i now, the book is useless now as there are more updated versions of the said book. Oh well
