Discouraged TPAPN Nurse

Published

Hi ya'll ! I've been enrolled into TPAPN since September 2016. TPAPN is the Peer Assistance Program for Nurses in Texas. I just reached two years of clean time last month.

I have become so discouraged about finding a job. I know something will come up for me.

Last month I had a great interview. Disclosed all of my information to the lady that was interviewing me (she was not the DON) . She was very hopeful and proud of what I have overcome. She said she recommended me for the job. It was for a treatment nurse position (how perfect would that have been)! Anyway. I go through background screen and HR says they can't hire me because the new Administrator and DON won't hire TPAPN nurses with stips on their license. It's just frustrating. I know this program is not meant to discriminate but sometimes I feel like it does. I also believe that some of these nurses don't have a clue about TPAPN and what it entails, that they just don't want to bother with it.

Sorry for rambling. Just needed to get it off my chest.

Where about do you live? I know of a couple hospitals that hire tpapn nurses in Sherman/ Denison tx

Thank you for your thought! I am Southeast of by Beaumont. :)

I am currently under Texas BON orders and it took me a year to find a job. In the meantime I worked as a housekeeper. I am sober and truly believe my higher power put me where I need to be. I have a supervisor who is awesome and my job is fulfilling. I cannot tell you how many times I just broke down and cried and wanted to give up but I wasn't going to let the BON break me! If you truly want to be a nurse, don't give up.

I don't mean to sound rude but why don't TPAPN and other nurses on probation help each other on here in regards to jobs/work. I'm also looking for a job, any position. I had a thread where I asked for anyone to PM me of the places that hire. Almost all the answers were nurses stating how they got a job right after signing the contract or how they have been to 3 jobs, started with a bad job then progressed or nurses saying they would NEVER recommend the place they worked to anyone and list goes on. Going on almost a year without a nursing job leads to serious depression. Why can't nurses who have worked or are working in places that do take TPAPN nurses PM the ones looking for jobs instead of telling them to pray or apply everywhere.

I've filled out more than 100 applications. I've been to about 30 interviews. 3 of which led to a second interview then wasn't selected mainly because I need to be on the floor with another RN. I even referred (PM'd) 2 LVN''s that I know through this site went to the places I interviewed at and got hired. I've applied to nursing homes, LTAC, dialysis, psych, medsurg, pediatrics..... and even home health even though I can't do home health under my order.

If someone knows a place that's hiring or hired nurses like us, can they PM me/us. That would help alot. Sorry for the rant, if it appears rude.

Thanks.

What facilities will hire in that area?

What facility hired you?

Where did you find a job?

Hey everyone! I found a job last Sept 2017 at a skilled nursing facility in Pasadena. They hire TPAPN nurses. If you are curious which facility please message me.

=)

I lived in a pretty small town, so it was difficult finding a job. I submitted what seemed like hundreds of applications! But I was pretty fortunate in that I got a job at Davita pretty quickly, about 3 months after starting my TPAPN. I also got online to the Texas Workforce Commission, and submitted several applications for case management positions with DHHS and got several interviews, but ended up taking the Davita job when it was offered, so I'm not sure if any of the case management jobs would have ended up actually hiring me.
