Direct Entry MSN Programs 2013

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Anyone on here applying to direct entry MSN programs that begin in summer or fall of 2013? I think I have finalized my list of programs to apply to, and I am beginning to get everything together to start applying this summer/early fall (I know this is rather early, but I'm a bit anxious and I was wondering if there was anyone else on this board who is just as excited as me!). I am pretty certain that I will be applying to UPenn, Yale, Johns Hopkins, Northeastern, University of Massachusetts, Boston College, Columbia, Vanderbilt, and Marquette. I am also applying to a few accelerated BSN programs in my state (Florida) - UCF and UF, for sure. I have all of my prerequisite courses completed, and currently have a 3.76, but my BS is still in progress and I have to retake the GRE this summer. I look forward to hearing from other people!

So I was too excited to wait until Vanderbilt's Open House next weekend to meet everyone so I started a Facebook group for those who were already accepted for this upcoming Fall 2013! (Search: Vanderbilt School of Nursing - Accepted Fall 2013)

For those who have been accepted , congrats! Where are you thinking of going?? I'm personally torn between Mgh and Vanderbilt ?

Love that Vanderbilt offers distance learning in your specialty year, It's 2 years, and ranked number 16 for nursing schools.

MGH affiliation with partners is in itself invaluable and I've heard clinicals are great. It's a bummer it's 3 years when is 2, though having summers off to work could be a good thing. Wonder if they allow you to take the 6 semesters consecutively , including summer semesters?

Anyone know how the full program prices of these 2 schools compare with one another?

Decisions, decisions.

ktbelle, do you think you're going to end up going to BC? I think that's my final choice! :)

whatatreat86,

I would really like to go to BC. I am waitlisted for FNP though, and I am not sure what my chances are for being accepted. Congrats on getting in! BC is a wonderful location and a great program.

ktbelle,

If you reply to the email that they sent you, they will tell you if you rank in the top ten waiting list placements if you ask.

As far as total program costs, these are the numbers I came up with (for psych specialty):

Vanderbilt (2 year program): $102,744

Boston College (2 year program): $80,640

MGH (3 year program): $103,000

I'm turning down my Marquette spot today so everyone on the waitlist will move one spot up! I'm torn between Vanderbilt (acute) and BC (peds). Anyone trying to decide between the same two?

Anyone know how big the mgh waitlist is

Thank you! Very daunting numbers. Wish the programs were the same length of time, would make it a bit easier for me to chose!

Have you decided where you're going?

Vanderbilt is my first choice but I haven't heard from them yet. Are there any applicants who applied for psych and live outside TN that heard back that they got accepted? I got the email last week that my application is still under review.

are bc and or msn programs? 2 years seems awfully short for an msn

I'm pretty sure Vanderbilt is 3 yrs...
