Direct Entry MSN 2020 at Columbia University

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone, The applications for June 2020 at Columbia University has now opened. I haven't seen any new threads for this year so I wanted to start one. I am in the process of applying and half way done! References already sent their recommendations!! and an upside to this year is that Columbia University is no longer requiring the GRE. SO I am pretty happy about that!!

Good Luck!

Last year it was they heard on the 25th.

let's hope so...fingers crossed...my guess is next week but really hope you're right.

I think by the end of this week/early next week, the admission would have decide who is in vs waiting list and rejection. The only delay will be the financial aid office figuring out the financial aid package. That’s why I’m thinking, we probably would not hear back until early February. Hopefully I’m wrong because the sooner the better.

Does anyone know if we will receive an e-mail when decisions are posted?

Getting so nervous/excited!

thanks for this. ive been debating whether or not i should quit my home health aid job on the weekends. it’s 12hrs/day but the job requires very minimal work. i probably just work 3hrs max and the rest are free time. i’m just concerned about the first summer term because i heard it’s extremely rigorous. do you know if ppl were able to work during the first term? thanks

I would say that working during the first summer would be extremely hard on your mental health more than anything else. I don’t know anyone who did more than a few hours a week. You’ll have exams on mondays, Tuesday’s and fridays during summer (at least that’s how it worked for us). So if you could truly study for most of your shift on a weekend, then maybe you could make it work, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

I called them recently and they said you will be emailed saying an update to your application has been made, then when you click the link in your email it will go to the decision letter in the application.

Generally you will hear from Admissions by the first week of February, and they send their decisions by email. Your financial aid offers are a little later. I know that anxiety and excitement gets exhausting, but you’re almost done... Hang in there! Best, J.

Just a thought...visiting day is the 21st so for people that live out of state ...that leaves them very little time to buy flights and make it to and get Settled in nyc ...Ooo the anxiety is buildingggg

Does anyone know how much time Columbia gives you to make your decision about accepting your admission offer -- assuming (positive thoughts!) that you are accepted? Was just curious if it's at least after the visiting day. Thanks!

Is it only me or did anyone else in here read every page on Columbia’s nursing website? Lol -out of anxiety and excitement from waiting.

Anybody here applying to the MDE-PhD option? I just got an invitation for an interview with the PhD program. It seems like the review is separate from the regular MDE program, so perhaps they admit for the MDE program first, and later will notify you if you get into the DNP/PhD?

When is your interview for your PhD program? I think they mentioned on their last email that all decision goes out all at the same time including MDE portion of the program as well. If you received an interview for the PhD portion then it means you got in for the MDE portion. In order word, you can be accepted to both program or just the MDE and not the PhD program but not the reverse.
