Help! I’m in Mississippi. I had a dilute urine on 11-18 and just got the email that it was dilute. What will they do? Retest me I’m sure. But will it add a bad mark to my probation? I emailed my board monitor and I will call her tomorrow. I just hope they retest me . I will be sure not to drink extra coffee that day. It just worries me .

I had one dilute. They called it a non negative. Got a letter saying if it happened again they might have me see a nephrologist if I couldn’t explain it. Never happened again.

I had a dilute urine once. I received a letter stating if I submit another it will count as a positive. They think we’re guzzling water to flush “something” out. I just happen to be a big water drinker as I’m sure most nurses are! Just one more thing to stress about!

I had a dilute once. They sent me a letter with suggestions like test first thing in the morning, don't drink caffeine etc. Said if it happens again they would increase testing or ask for additional specimens. Havent had a problem since.

I might add that if AM testing is not an option try to get your water in so that you don't drink for the last two hours before you test. On a test day drink no more that one cup of coffee or tea (Just enough to get your heart started). Have a a lunch and snack that are high in protien (Peanut Butter or Tuna sandwhich) which eliminates the problems associated with creatine levels. Do not present to pee unless you know you can urinate ( I always had a back-up after hours lab I could go to to drop a urine) . Towards the end I could pretty well urinate on command though. Once you have dropped your urine rehydrate and eat as usual.
