Have you worked for either of these companies before or are working for them at present? What was it like? What about your compensation? What is the starting salary? sorry for these many queries ... I am asking such because I would love to continue my career as a dialysis nurse and need some enlightenment regarding these matters...Hope to hear from you coz I'm going to have an interview with DaVita next week and waiting for Fresenius also...Thanks...

They are all about the same. It's really a crap shoot. As for salary it really depends on your area of the country. And they know what each other is paying . If one give a raise of say a quarter the other will give 30 cents.
Ask to shadow a nurse on your initial interview.
Good Luck.
thanks a lot! at least I have some sort of idea as to how both are giving compensation...

I have never worked for Da Vita. I've worked @ two FMC clinics. They work their nurses like dogs.
Not every where. Several of their clinics I've wondered why they even needed a traveler.
In a Davita clinic I was the only nurse with 20 patients with techs. Did all the assessments, and meds for 2 shifts. Saw the other nurse who worked opposite me 3 times in 6 months.
Like I said before it's a crap shoot. Who ever needs nurses worse wins. If you have Davita and Fresenius in the same area.

i worked for fresenius for 8 1/2 yrs -i kept hoping the situation would get better -over worked, underappreciated -but it didn't -i finaly got seriously ill -had a TIA because of the lack of staff in the acute unit i managed - during my recovery period the clinical manager of the renal floor of the hospital offered me a job-more $ than i was making with my acute diff. and 3 days/week as opposed to 12 days straight most of the time at least 15 hr days.I took the job-love it-have no residual from the TIA -and to tell you about the $ with fresenius my profit share after all those years was less than $2000.But more than anything else the lack of support and caring by the administration of that co. is the reason i will never work for them again

Too bad Renal Care Group is gone. I hear FMc in the Nj area is not good. I hear the attitudes are bad. I'm in Vegads at a formerly RCG facility. We were aquired by FMC this year adn things have been the same of course. The most thing I like though is the fact that the RN and techs get along pretty well. I don't know about Davita but with FMC and RCG techs were trianed very well. They know alot. Other dialysis facilites haev the RN doing the bulk of the work.

I guess it depends on where you work. I am with FMC right now for almost 2 years now, and i have no complaints so far. ( I just wish they would pay us more ) My nurse manager is really very nice and so are the rest of the staffs. We all get along fine, we laugh while we work, we all are enjoying our job, we help each other. Too bad i have to move to CA this year because of my family, otherwise, i would be staying in this facility.

Never set foot in a FMC clinic! Never, Never Never!!!!!!!! What a miserable life you would live. I worked for FMC for over 4 years. Their rules change on a daily basis and apply to different people on different days. I have experienced this County wide! Never, Never send a family member to a FMC clinic if you love them. All the units I have encountered are financially dirty and rotton. For the past 2 years in TX we are not allowed to shred any documents per the Government. FMC has been busted for MC fraud before.
Go to DaVita. They really do care about you, the nurse. You are a credible member of the treatment team!

DaVita is a great company!! I have been with the company less than a year, but they are very positive!! We are currently experiencing a staffing crunch, which will hopefully end soon. I was a traveler for 5 years in Dialysis and did an Acute stint in Pittsburg w/FMC and chronic in Phoenix where I worked floating charge in 7 clinic. I love dialysis, but as a new nurse manager, I have to say that I have never had a harder job!! Good Luck, if you don't find what you are looking for come to Daytona!!
