Different Stress Relievers, Which Would You Choose?

Nurses Stress 101

Published

Hello,

There are so many different stress relief methods out there on the internet.. I am not sure which product to choose. Therefor I posted this "poll" to see what you all would choose from these different methods. The ones I

found are;

**Self hypnosis products that will guide you into hypnosis to overcome your stress.

**eBooks of people that have overcome stress in their own unique way, and you can buy the eBook that will help you overcome stress the same way they did.

**Devices that will help you control your breathing. These products are the most expensive ones. They will rate your breathing and heart beat so that you can improve it.

**Pills that will relief your stress for a period of time, no subscription needed to order them online.

**Relaxing sounds of nature music cd's that will relax you.

**And Binaural Beat programs, this is a relatively new for of stress relief and other problems. Emotions work on brain frequencies and these binaural beats will bring the brain frequency from stressed to calm and relaxed.

I hope that you will all vote the option that you feel most comfortable with. Thanks!

Regards,

James Mc Coy

Definitely right that there is a lot of $$ to be made in selling nonsense for stress relief.

I truly believe that instead of looking for a magic bullet to resolve our problems (like a pill, or a herbal remedy, etc.) we should go to the root - design a life that supports our true purpose in life & then make choices & decisions around that design.

Easier said than done, I know...but a lot of times we create our own nightmares by trying to live someone else's version of a "great life".

But, when the chips are down & I'm stuck - my 3 favorites:

  1. Controlled breathing - I do follow a prescribed method, but in the interest on non-self or other promotion, won't link or promote.
  2. White wine & kissing!!
  3. Laughter with a group of friends!!

Always remember, Rule #6...don't take yourself so d#$m seriously...& have a stress-free day.

First of all I would stay off the internet and shut off the cell phone.

Find what method calls to my heart and soul. Anyone that has a body can use a relaxing massage at least once a month. If you dont want to be touched or feel too exposed on the massage table try a foot reflexology session. Eating healthy that means staying away from caffeine and sugarmwhich raise our cortisol levels and gives us more stress. Find a place in our homes that is just for us to stay centered and quiet. Light a candle.

Music is universally healing and can soothe the soul. Excercise that appeals to you. Bonding with your dog or cat or what ever animal you may have. Meditation or yoga. Just remembering to breathe. Dont need to spend money on books to tell you to take deep breaths we tell our patients that. Being in nature is good for us. Hugs and smiles.

Then again, just look around at what makes you happy!!!! and go with that. What music makes you feel good? What calms your soul? What makes a good "quite time" for you? Stop looking at what others think of quite time and find your own. The rest of the world can be there 80% of the time......as long as you that 20% for yourself!

I would go with the relaxing music with an addition

like yoga or another activity like running or biking.

Nursing is stressful at times. Being indoors so much for

work I have found it great to be active outdoors for

a stress break. The very best option I have found is

horseback riding. Sorry to go your list a bit, but

have not found the type of options listed except music

helpful in the past.

Has anyone tried tai chi? it's supposed to be relaxing and good exercise too. Two for one!

Tried it. Not my thing, but most people love it. I'm into Yoga right now...and, of course...Sex is always a great stress reliever!

I love Tia Chi......not good at it but love it LOL. I have been doing a 30 minute Tia Chi CD every day for the past year :) The CD is 60 minutes long LOL. I was so anal at first that I used it like an fitness video. I HAVE TO LEARN THE FORMS AND POSITIONS! After a while I learned the first of it and was so proud of myself...I slowed down a bit and really learned the poses and forms. Then I stopped thinking about them, because I knew them. Now I do them and it has become a form of meditation. Now I will have to concentrate on learning the second part of that 60 minute CD. At 54, I am not going out for a pound the pavement type of workout, but if I learn all of this :) I am sure I will be healthy because of it.

Things that work for my stress, which is almost nil.

Exercising followed by a nice soak in the jacuzzi and or sauna

Yard work followed by a dip in the pool and or hot tub

Biking, running

Good food

good friends

better lovers

never alcohol

never drugs

all natural is the only way.

I am so glad I finally got off my butt and did it-I joined a gym. It took everything I had to do it but I feel so much better. I may only go once per week but that one day makes a difference. While there I focus mostly on lifting weights using the machines. I eat better now (junk cravings went down), I have more energy at work and feel happier on my days off, and I sleep better. I used to have a problem sleeping, but its amazing I sleep like a baby and am dreaming again-hadn't done that for months. I know it sounds cliche but working out works, I put if off forever and finally got so tired of being depressed and feeling like a slug that I forced myself to go. I'll tell you I can work off the frusterations from work at the gym.

Sleep is the best stress reliever...music helps to relax me to sleep so maybe the nature cds.

I get an aromatherapy massage a few times a month.

I feel so peaceful when we're finished. My therapist is an earth-godess type of person. Birkenstocks, long red braids, and those pretty flowing skirts.

I feel a natural high all day.

I'm going for one tomorrow. !!!

I have to agree with Iam46yearsold and Jesusrocks postings. Exercise is one of the best stress relievers for me, particularly running. It becomes like therapy for me to get out on the track and run for 20-30min.

I recently started doing sprint intervals instead of a straight 20-30 min run. I read it burns more fat and is less harsh on your body.
