I think you have just answered your own question. It's a matter of lifestyle and being prepared.
I have lost 30lb over the last few months by reducing the amount of saturated fat I eat, eating less processed and chemical food, and eating more fresh fruit, vegetables etc.
Try to sit down and think about why you eat, if you eat for a reason other than hunger and then address this. My main reason for eating is boredom and I tend to snack in the evenings. To avoid this, I now have a 'no eating after 7pm' rule, I make sure I have breakfast - nothing extravangant - just cereal and low fat milk and I try to eat a couple of pieces of fruit during the day instead of having cakes or biscuits etc.
You might want to check the Premium Members Forum as there is a healthy living thread there where you may get more hints and tips.
Good luck

There are lots of plans there. I'm on one that requires some planning and cooking so might not be fore you, but there are other plans that don't require a lot of cooking for the busier person.
They don't recommend loosing a lot of weight fast, but a goal of about 2 lbs a week, so as not to wreck havoc with your metabolism. Also, most people who rapidly loose weight, rapidly put it back on. No quick fixes.
Lean meats, lots of fruits and vegatables, whole grains, low fat dairy. Portion control, and you gotta move. Walking is great.
Good luck.
