Didn't pass aanp...

Well I didn't pass the AANP. I just wanted to give an overview of the questions I had. I had alot of specific pharm questions, like if you are allergic to cipro and a erythromycin and tetracycline what do you give for bacterial pneumonia. Exact dosages for certain diseases. I mean I must of had 60 pharm questions, alot of diagnosis questions (which was good) and alot of diagnostic, labs that you would or would not do. I didn't have more than 5 assessment questions. Derm was very tricky and the descriptions were very vague.

I am a little discouraged because this sounds nothing like what people have been describing to me. Over all there weren't any diseases that I hadn't seen or heard of or that were not in the review books. Just very specific and in-depth questions. One question had to do with the first pass effect in pharm??? That is like pharm 101.

So I gotta re-take this cr.. again...lol.

I am not going to wait too long to re-take it. Gotta do CEU's now. If anyone has any advice let me know.

Yes make sure you know jnc7 guidelines, you will use it in practice everyday. Basics meaning the disease process itself, we are prohibited from discussing the test content so I have to be careful in what I say. I used the hollier review book, not the book with the questions, the book that is similar to Ferri's which was our bible but huge. The hollier book is more condensed and provides great info on everything. And like I said, I made flashcards and it helped me tremendously. Good luck to you, try to remain calm, breathing exercises helped me:)

I know if you join the AANP they have free CEUs on their site.... but you do have to pay for membership. Also I think you can do an online class through Fitzgerald in pharm and you get several hours of CEUs

well, u still have pen, beta lactams, septra and doxy

giving amoxil and doxy should cover most pneumonias and give atypical coverage too

I understand that AANP tends to be more clinically relevant (that is what I have been told)

I wrote ANCC in 2002, because it was more widely recognized, although either is usually accepted now.

Can u just write ANCC?

I wanted to share that i had a preliminary Not Pass and am hoping that this is wrong. I looked up the questions that I wasnt sure and got most of them right? These questions were some of the hardest that Ive seen and none were from review course! Did I get a superhard test? I am very discouraged. There were 2 on development that I feel were right and were in my book. Please help
