Didn't get the scholarship I applied for . . .

Published

Due to my poor GPA from 15+ years ago. It's SO hard to be paying now when I've gotten all As since being back in school last year. Anyway, I'm sad, any sympathy will be appreciated!

The scholarship is through my local hospital and they would have paid for my 2 year degree in return for my working there for two years. So in trying to look on the bright side, I won't be obligated to them if I end up working there and don't like it. I can also work part time if I don't want to work full time.

Well, that's all the "good" I can come up with!

Thanks for reading!

I'm so sorry you didn't get it! You are right about not owing the hospital. They might be real stinkers to work for, so this could be a very good thing in the long run.

Sorry to hear about that:o. I also didn't get a similar scholarship, which I desperately need to pay for school. I was sooooooo devastated. I damn near had a nervous breakdown because I have no clue how I'm paying for my final semester:bluecry1:. However, I'm also telling myself that it wasn't meant to be because I would have be obligated to work for them for two years as well. It would kinda suck if you did get that scholarship only to find out that you absolutely hate working there, so I think it was definitely a blessing in disguise. Do you qualify for grants or loans through your financial aid dept? Good luck!

get on internet and see if any other scholarships are available i have heard that some scholarships go unclaimed

Thanks everyone! I am working on getting a loan now, I filled out the FAFSA but I'm sure everyone will agree, it's ridiculous what they think you should be responsible for. We have a family of five and live in a VERY high cost of living area, on one salary, even if it's an OK salary . . . and they think we should be able to pay about $15K out of pocket? HA. So it's OK, I'll take out the loans. If nothing else, the interest rates aren't too bad, and I can pay them off quickly once I'm working.

I am looking for other scholarships but it's time consuming and mostly fruitless, there are always so many stipulations. But we'll see what I can come up with. I can still re-apply for this one next year, I'm actually getting my old grades taken off my record, which I wasn't eligible for until now, so my GPA will be darn near 4.0. I can get a one year scholarship rather than two.

It sucks being poor!
