Ok I'm quite confused because many people have told me that my misdemeanor charge of affray(fighting) should not keep me from being licensed or even be a problem as long as I am truthful and of course provide evidence that I paid the fine to the court. Well I've been looking through the posts in this thread and it seems like everyone who is having problems attaining a license is because of 1) Felony charge, 2) they did not reveal they had charges(marking NO on the application) or 3) they didn't send inn all the proper paperwork. I was just wondering if anyone knew or had been in a situation where after doing all the right stuff their license still took longer to come through. I ask because I am about to graduate in May and have some job offers but most require you obtain your license within 90 days of being hired.
I would also like to say I live in GA and I know each state board is different but I still would love to hear people's answers even if they don't reside here.

I have theft by check convictions in SC. I applied to the BON of FL and there was NO delay in licensure. They never even asked for the documentation!
Thanks so much for the reply. I have already gathered all the documents the GA BON usually asks for (disposition, letter of events, etc.) even though many people have told me I shouldn't have to worry. I have a misdemeanor charge of affray(fighting) from almost three years ago.

Yes.... I live in Ga. I have a 2004 DUI on my record, I took boards in mar 09, and I finally received my license in April 09... Good news I was working by May 09 :)!
I am so glad to hear that, so many people that I know tell me not to worry and just to be honest, but then I get on here and see so many posts where people are having trouble with a criminal background and I lost hope. I'm so glad yall have posted your good news and restored my faith. I will submit everything I need to and hopefully be an RN soon after taking the boards. Thanks again for your replies. I will post my story as soon as I am able to sit for the NCLEX, hopefully its a successful one.

I found the GA response to be somewhat slow. I just kept checking the website to ensure they received all of my documents. It took nearly a month after my application before I received my ATT. You won't get your ATT (the number you need to schedule the NCLEX) to be able to sit for the NCLEX until the GA BON has ALL of the required documents. If you need to send a letter and disposition of your case, go ahead and do that so any questions they have can be addressed. I would also make a visit to the registrar's office to get an official copy of your transcript stating you have graduated and send it to them yourself.
@IcuRN, yes ma'am I have already gotten the disposition of my case and am working on my letter now. I have talked to my advisor about doing a character reference for me as well. I don't graduate until May 7th and nursing student's final transcripts are rushed so that we can pick them up and send them with my application. I probably will personally hand deliver mine seeing as the board is located in the same city as my future job and is only an hour drive away from my house. I have heard different stories about the GA board being slow and stricter than most but I hope I am able to receive my ATT sooner by being upfront and providing all the necessary documents.
You will receive you ATT with the rest of your class if you turn your documents in ontime... The after the nclex is the waiting game for the board to decide to grant you a license... It felt like torture... But I'm so happy they granted mine 30 days after passing the nclex. I am wondering if I have to submit this info again when I sit for my RN boards.
