Did not pass first attemt NCLEXRN. Help!

Nursing Students NCLEX

I took my boards in July and did not pass. I literally felt that I was guessing at every question. I even wondered if I had gotten the right test. LOL I felt like I had a respiratory therapy exam or something of sorts. But I have been studying by using the NCSBN course and someone directed me towards this website for Suzanne's plan which I am going to start just as soon as my review course runs out.

After leaving the testing center, I knew that I had not passed, and I held up pretty well with my results. If I do not pass this 2nd attempt ( I have not scheduled again yet because I want to feel ready) I will probably be very depressed and not test again.

How much do you all think is a good amount of time to study per day without experiencing overload?

Many people believe that a testing location has bearing on passing. Since the test is totally random, I do not see how this could be true, but several people think it. What do you all believe?

Thanks for any tips, suggestions, prayers! I hope to feel ready by the end of September, but if I am not I will just continue to study.

I too failed my NCLEX 2X before finally passing. I have sent this info in many posts and stand by it - I took an online review class with Ready To Pass (www.readytopass.com) - it was the only thing that helped me. There is a live tutor that helps you through and really makes sense. Hope this helps. Stay positive, study hard and the rest will fall into place!! Good luck!

Hey you all. I passed my boards at the end of September, which was my 2nd attempt. My first attempt was in July. I have heard good things about Suzanne's plan. However, I was not able to use it, because I would not have enough time to complete the 2nd part within the time frame I was hoping to retest. If I had started with Suzanne's plan, then I would have had plenty of time to go through with the entire study. Instead, I started with a 5 week review course from NCSBN. It was helpful with lots and lots of practice questions! It wasn't until I was almost done with the review course that I heard about Suzanne's plan. Next, I used my HESI book for review over Medical/Surgical and Critical Care concepts. I did around 3,000 practice questions from various cd's, but mostly Incredibly Easy. The best thing for me was doing the questions and viewing rationales!!! I used my medical encyclopedia to look up any term or disease that I ran across in practice questions for which I was unfamiliar.

Hope this helps and good luck to all of you preparing for boards!! Thanks for the encouragement when I failed the first time!

Congrats! I too failed my first attempt. And then, finally with lots of encouragements from users in this forum, I mustered the strength to take it once more. I passed! I had almost a year to recover from my embarrassment and frustrations. Thank You ALL for the support! I took each of everyones advice all seem to work, I think its a matter of will power and determination.

Saunders review book helped me out allot.

For those re-takers. I'm praying for you. Happy Holidays!
