Im waiting on acceptance and the Nursing director at the school told me "I think you will get in," has a counselor ever said this to you and you actually did get in or not?
The school I applied to has cuts:
1st- do you have a gpa of 2.5 overall and science
completed writtten questions (used instead of interview)
2nd-cutoff gpa for competitive students (3 point something (unknown))
3rd-these competitive students take TEAS
4th-calculating all: gpa, teas, and written: Acceptance
I applied for the 3 yr Accelerated BSN at one of the best nursing schools in my area. I worked with an amazing administrative lady and applied at the end of Jan. I then took there teedius 4 hour entrance exam. In there I just saw people get up and leave and quit because they didnt know it. I also saw a couple girls crying because the computer told us our scores at the end. I scored a 90 percent on it. I was sooo happy, but that was not a guarunteed in. I had to write letters to the acceptance committee and had to write a 7 paragraph essay in 45 mins they did not tell you what you were writing about untill time began!!! ...... anyways for weeks after the test I was sooo nervous. Then at the end of Feb, the school called my work and told me I was accepted for the June class!!!!!!! ............ I have all the faith that you will make it. If I can do it, we all can!!!!
Good luck!
I'm sitting here searching for if people got in on the waiting list, but felt I'd like to throw in my opinion on this.
Our adviser told us that with a 3.4 and over 80% on the TEAS your basically going to get in. Yea, so thats what I got and I would have got in if budget cuts didn't screw me over. They removed 10 slots from each program, so instead of 34 they took only 24 students.
Sadly what my adviser said also was b.s., I personally know people with crappier GPA's and TEAS scores that got in. Matter fact they got C's in microbiology and both A&P I & II. Needless to say I'm a little ****** off.

I think it would be best if advisors and others wouldn't try to predict who will get in. The nursing director at my school told one of my friends she would probably get in, and then she didn't even get an interview.
Unless they have reviewed and ranked every single applicant, then it is hard to say who is going to get in. At my school, they use points system for ranking. Last year, most of the people who got in had points in the 30's. This year, those who were accepted had points in the 50's and higher. So, its hard to predict these things.
I was told last year to not even bother to apply because it was so competitive. Except the advisor that told me that didn't even know anything about me yet, I think she was just having a bad day But I did apply and got declined. Then I spent my year getting some extra classes and working in a medical related job, and now I'm starting in fall
I ended up getting in after my counselor gave me hope. I think that your admissions counselor would know a thing or two about if you are going to get in or not but still should not give students hope either way because im sure its devestating to think you are going to get in and then not end up getting in, sorry to those of you who were put in that situation.
Yes! I was so nervous so I asked what she thought my chances were. She looked over my file and said, "You have nothing to worry about." My letter came in the mail a month early. However, she was the pre-nursing advisor for everyone at my small school, so she knew what everyone's stats were. where I am at getting in is not nearly as hard as staying in. They are actually raising the amount of students they accept due to losing half or more by the time of graduation.
