Did I fail the NCLEX?

Published

Hello all,

So today I took the NCLEX and it shut off at 155 questions I believe. I am feeling a little bit discouraged because I have not read on any blogs of anyone hitting such a random number and getting shut off. I have mixed feelings. I don't feel like I failed, but I don't know for sure if I feel as if I passed either. After it passed 75 and did not shut off, I began to panic a little, but I continued to answer my questions to the best of my ability. I had, what seemed to be a bunch of SATA questions, no medication calculations, and a bunch of maternity questions. It had a mixture of hard and easy questions, but I am not feeling too confident now after reading some of these topics. I studied using Hurst review as well as UWorld qbank. I felt confident going in, but with such an array of questions, I honestly do not know how I did. So to end, has anyone else computer shut off at a random number such as mine and still pass?

While I would tell someone that had it shut off at 75 they most likely passed, any number between 75-265 has same probability of passing...or failing.

Less than 20% of people fail the nclex. If you used the tools you mentioned appropriately, I'm sure you did fine.

You had mostly SATA, which are the most difficult q. The more often you get them, the better you are doing. Start celebrating!

I really hope so! I'll keep you all posted!

I passed and I had 83 questions it was such a random number and the test was difficult with a lot of SATA questions I thought I had failed but I didn't! So you never know, you might have passed stay positive!

People pass all the time after having answered an odd number of questions. If you continued to answer questions beyond the 75-question minimum, it means the computerized adaptive testing system needed more time to ascertain whether you performed at, above or below the standard needed to pass.

I had friends who took there's a couple weeks ago and made it up to question 170 and they still passed.

Remember the test adapts to YOUR knowledge and my last semester instructor who use to write questions for NCLEX said she rather her students coming out of those exams thinking they failed rather than being like that was a cake-walk because if you did it would most likely meant you failed.

Also, I had a bunch of SATA questions too and I stopped counting after I tallied 30 SATA questions and I'm sure something will disagree with this but I think the more you get the better you might be doing. So hang in there.

Thank you! I'll keep everyone posted!

Unfortunately, I did not pass the exam. Thank you all for your support. Kind of ready to give up on nursing and go for a different career.

i'm sorry you got bad news. It doesn't mean you should give up, though. You will get the areas you need to work on and use this info to focus.

Does Hurst or U-world have a guarantee? I used ATI and Kaplan. ATI has a guarantee that if you fail they will work with you until they feel you will pass. Kaplan gives your money back. If either have a guarantee like ATI, use them.

Please don't give up you have come too far to quit. A quiter never win and a winner never quit. You can do it, get yourself together and start studying again. Use the right material and you will make it in Jesus name.
