I applied to my schools nursing program in September, I found out last week I did not get in for January, it's based on a point system so after this semester my points would be sky high when I reapply for fall of next year. When I found out I cried for hours, then I realized everything happens for a reason. I decided to make this an opportunity ( I have no previous healthcare experience) so I applied as a PCT at a dialysis company. I plan to work full time until fall, then hopefully part time in nursing school.I had an informal interview yesterday, and another one Friday. I am so very excited for this learning experience and hope I do get it. When one door closes another one opens! Please wish me luck!

I'm at PCT at a dialysis clinic. Have been for 5 years now. I just started the RN program this fall. And while it would have been nice to go ahead and get started in the program, I feel that working in the dialysis clinic will benefit you as far as learning some medical terminology, being comfortable communicating with patients, looking at medical records...etc
Good luck with everything! And yes I believe everything does happen for a reason so maybe it just wasn't your time to start!
Also the plus side of working for a dialysis company (depending on which one) the company I work for will reimburse your tuition 100%!! :)

I was in the same position as you were just months ago. My points weren't very competitive last semester when I applied for Fall 2015. I got into zero of the 4 schools I applied to. This time I was accepted in all 4 schools I applied to for Spring 2016. You have a plan now which is great! It is just a setback don't let it destroy your dreams. Good luck to you!

Everything happens for a reason! I didn't get into the school I was trying for a few years back and after changing majors I reapplied to a different schools nursing program and got in! Don't give up on your dreams and you will get there.

you got this!! I had to push nursing school applications off for year after some post partum complications. I was bummed at the time because I was supposed to graduate this May and just now applied for the program to start next July. It's worked in my benefit actually because I have all my co-reqs done (and bachelor pre reqs done) so I will only have my nursing classes to focus on during my ADN clinicals and only two semesters online once I graduate for my BSN. I like that your making the best of it!!

This is a great outlook. If I don't get in I plan to either work (I'm a sahm) to save $$ and lay for the classes or take what I will need for a.bsn (organic and statistics)
