Did you get your first choice?

Published

If you applied to Maricopa Community Colleges, did you get you first choice in schools? If not, what choice did you get?

I'm getting ready to start the application process and I'm stressed out. Only my first choice will work for me as I have 2 kids in school and a little one.

I don't know what would happen if I just put down Glendale as my first choice....or should I put down 5 choices just hoping I won't get my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th choice. Thanks for the insight.

I made five choices. I ended up getting my second choice. I think that it is a bad idea to choose schools that you may not be able to attend. If you are selected you have the option to turn it down, but only one time. The next semester when you are chosen, you must accept or resubmit your application and start all over again.

Good luck with your decision! :wink2:

I agree, don't choose schools that you aren't willing to attend. You may have to wait an extra semester, but hold out for the one that will meet your needs.

I got my 4th choice but it worked out great. I agree with the other posters. Please, do not put down a college you are not willing to attend. Murphy's law...you'll get it and have to choose.

Another way to look at it is you may not find it's the best choice but at least you're in. I could have asked for a transfer to my my 1st choice school at the beginning of Block 1 and would have (most likely) gotten it. There's always folks that don't make it through B1 so there's seats available. Besides that, it may just work out for you at your 2nd, 3rd or even 4th choice school...like me! I used the commute to review for exams with my carpool buddies or de-stress on the way home from a tough day in clinicals. We maximized our 30 minute drive to and from every day.
