Coler Gold Water has a LPN program ...its like the brooklyn adult learning center and mid manhattan ...its funded by the city. did anyone get into the program for september 2008 or for last fall september 2007..:)

I am currently a student here at Coler-Goldwater. I passed the TABE and the CNET with flying colors. The curriculum is very strenuous, and it's alot of work, you have to be dedicated in order to excel in this program. feel free to forward any questions.

Hi LPNstudentgrad209

I want to ask you a few questions regarding this program at coler-goldwater -

How did you apply for the program? Did you have to go to the hospital directly to apply or if you call their number, do they send you the application form? I tried to look for more information on this program on-line, but it seems as if on-line resources are quite limited.

Also I have a bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing. Would having college education disqualify me from entering this program? It seemed as if this program was designed to take in high school grads only, so I don't know if having a college degree might affect one's qualification to be enrolled..

Lastly, I heard that this program is for low-income NYC residents. I am low income - actually unemployed for the last few years, therefore I have not filed any taxes. If so, then how am I going to prove that I do indeed fall into the low income category if I do not have any W2 or whatever you call the income tax forms available? Do they actually ask for your tax forms or whatever else that might serve as a proof that you are at low income level?

Sorry for throwing a bunch of questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If I'm not mistaken, they request a W-2 form only if you're working, however, if you're unemployed, that shouldn't be a problem. This program here at Goldwater is a combination of two things, the highest grades on the CNET and the TABE, as well as some financially challenged. You have to excel at both tests ( unless you know someone ) in order to be considered. There are also two other schools involved in this LPN program, Mid-Manhattan and Brooklyn division. Those latter two schools you pay for. Approx 2400. Having a degree does not exclude you from this program, we have some people here that work for HHC, we also have some people with college degrees, as well as CNA's, PCT's, MST's, PCA's, and RMA's. You need to google goldwater LPN program. I know the website is something like CNETnursing.net or something like that. Hopefully this helped you somewhat.:nurse:
