Did anyone Get accepted to Brooklyn Adult learning Center for FALL 2008?Mid Manhattan

Published

Im Just Curious I wanted to know ANYONE applied and got Accepted to the City's LPN Program Brooklyn Adult learning center (BALC).... OR Mid Manhattan Adult learning Center For FALL 2008 I haven't seen Any Post on people saying that got accepted to the program. I bet Thousands Took the CNET, I was one of them but missed it by 2 points. But my Entire Percentile was over 40 percent. But oh well.....

:zzzzz

jtsang: the other $1000 is due in the first week of january 2009. It written in the acceptance letter.

Elizabeth: I live Prospect Park, I want to go to the brooklyn Campus also.

Congrats to you all. I graduated last year from the brooklyn location. Your in for quite a year but it'll all be worth it in the end. Whatever you do just make sure you don't miss too many days, a few people almost got kicked out for that last year. Other than that, they'll support you and help you with anything you need. Good Luck.

Sorry couldn't reply privately...having a little trouble figuring out the system. The first semester, if I remember correctly is mostly gonna be general classes like Anatomy, Nutrition, Growth & Development, medical terminology/dosage calculations (which is given throughout the program) and PNA (I can't remember exactly what it stands for but I think it's Practical Nursing Assessment). Except for dosage, these classes run until December/January and you have to pass them in order to make it into clinicals in January. Which you will do, unless you fail every exam and show absolutely no effort it's really hard not to pass. Quizzes are given weekly and exams every 2-3 weeks. During clinicals, the student body is broken up into two large groups which will alternate every two weeks between going to the facilities and staying in class. To answer your question this is where the uniform comes in, you only have to wear your uniform to clinicals, which you'll be happy to hear cuz they're hideous. Think Alice in Wonderland meets Florence Nightingale :crying2:. When your not at the facilities and your in class, you'll be taking Pharmacology, med surg, in addition to dosage during the second semester which ends around April. After this you'll take Pediatrics and Maternity which ends out the year. Just be prepared to be thoroughly confused and overwhelmed the first few weeks. Classes are Mon-Fri from 9-4pm and unless your in clinicals don't expect to get out early too often. Also, the downside to the program is they're notoriously disorganized and they're known for telling you one thing one day and something completely different the next day. Not trying to get too personal but I would carry extra money and try to take some time off from work at least for the first couple of weeks because on a few occasions we've had to run to pick up documents, make copies, get test results, and get extra pictures taken unexpectedly. Hopefully they've gotten more organized and this doesn't happen to you but just be prepared. Hope this helps, if you have anymore questions feel free to contact me and I'll answer them the best I could.

Congrats Allicat. We will all meet at some time or the another since it is the same program. Nevertheless throughout the semester it would be nice if we all kept in touch.

HOLD UP. I didn't have a drug screening or a interview. I receive the acceptance letter in person and now I have to bring in the money and my physical....so I'm kind of confuse... explain ladys

Calm down chic. The interview occurs when u bring in your physical. Its no big deal, u just have to write an essay, which is simple. That's it. As for the drug screening info will be given on Sept 3.

Take a deep breath, everything is fine...lol
