Just wondering if anyone else applied to this program. I went to UCLA for undergrad but I pretty much think I have no shot of getting into this grad program.
Does anyone know anything about how many people they admit? What they are looking for?
Thanks, honestly, I am no super being by any means. I mean besides the fact that I was Elvis for Halloween, I have no idea why they would select me over all these other amazing candidates. And I'm not just saying that. If you really must know my stats, I had a 3.9 GPA and 4.0 in my pre-reqs, double major, several honors societies, several volunteer experiences, trilingual. I don't have any health related experience besides my volunteer work. I also did some charity work/fundraising. So honestly, the only thing I can think of that's different is that I am from a completely different field than most. I can't really reveal that, but the woman at USD told me how I can really be used in the nursing profession, so I'm thinking that's what UCLA thinks.I know I worked my butt off for this, which included many many sleepless nights, but I also know that you all did the same, so I sincerely feel for those who didn't get accepted. Like I've said before, I really think we should all get in.
That said, I am not even gonna beleive I got in until I get my envelope. I'm still in total shock. I feel like it's a dream and someone is gonna wake me up soon.
WOW trilingual?? Wow you certainly stand out, no wonder you got accepted!! You definitely have a super-beings credentials!
I'm really pleased for you!!
WOW. I've been checking this thread non-stop for the past 2 weeks. Honestly, it's the only thing that has kept me sane while waiting for UCLA's package in the mail.
I CAN"T BELIEVE I GOT IN. After looking at the stats of people who got rejected, I had resigned myself to expecting to be in the same boat...but for some reason, Shelli and the rest of the admissions committee decided otherwise!!!! I really don't know what it was!!!
My stats: 3.3 undergrad GPA. 590 V, 640 M: 1230 GRE. Research internship at Penn, Research assistant at a Harvard affiliate...I spent a term and a year at each, respectively. I quit my job in Boston and moved to LA to focus on applications, so I took classes at UCLA-Extension and Santa Monica College...Straight A's. I have shadowed nurses, but my volunteer experience is minimal, especially in health care. I focused a lot on my interest in being a public health advocate as my ulterior motive in becoming a nurse
I moved to LA a year ago and have dealt with so many research job rejections. I literally had 9 interviews at UCLA that didn't pan out. Luckily, I had a bartending job to fall back on for money, but don't even know what they saw in me in the end. WOW.

Congrats alicelc!!
Did you get your package in the mail or did you ring Shelli to find out?
To everyone that hasn't been accepted, after looking at the first few slides of that link that link that MECN 2009 posted, it seems like the odds are better when applying to the MSN programs as RNs. Even though this door closed for some of us now, others will open for us in its place. I'm really hoping to get into CSULA, but if not, I'm still reassured that if I end up going the A-BSN route, the odds of becoming a NP @ UCLA improve. Good luck with the other programs you've applied to.
Congratulations MECN2009, Musictonurse and Alicelc! I wonder why only three people on here have been accepted so far? Good luck to those who are still waiting.
Sarah, I guess your large envelope taking longer hypothesis might have something to it hahaha--best of luck!!
