Yes... And where I live, Outpatient RNs work 4am-4pm... No thanks!! I used to work at a clinic in another state and worked 6-5, that's prob as late a start as you're gonna get. You could opt to work in the nocturnal (overnight) clinic, or a clinic with a mid shift. Those are harder to find.

For several Fresenius clinics I worked 1st patient starts 5-40AM or 6AM. RN supposed to come in at least 15 min before doors are open, what is 15-20 min before 1st patient's treatment time. RN responsibilities also varies from clinic to clinic, so you might asked to come in earlier. Usually it would be between 5 and 5-30. 4-30 if there is a new admit in morning shift, and 4 if you covering for PCT.

Some clinics have 3 shifts and RNs have more flexibility, it could be 2 long days, or day could be split like 530 to 1530, and 1430-2230.

I know at the VA outpatient clinics the one technician arrives at 530-6am for machine set up / RO duties, and the nurses are scheduled 7-5:30 4x/week with first shift patients scheduled for 7:30 (but arriving around 6:45-7), and second shift scheduled for 12:30 but arriving at 11-11:30.

It depends on which clinic you work in. The opening tech is usually at the clinic at 4am with Water room duties and getting machines fired up and set up.

Usual routine is 5am RN start with looking at water check, med count, assessments due for plan of care, fridge temperatures for labs and meds, etc.

1st patient put on is from 5:30 to 6. You work till 5 PM or as a closer of the unit 7pm. Typically working 3days/week. Nurses may leave when patient census drops to 12.

Hi everyone, Our techs and RN's work 14 1/2 hr shifts 3 days a week:yuck:,:coffee:.

Where I work the technicians come in at about 4:30 am to begin readying the machines and preparing heparin syringes and packs for patients. As the RN, I am in about 4:45 to record, draw up medications and do the routine checks, like fridge temps, Code cart checks, and signing off on water checks. I work 4 days a week, until 2:00pm, which I love. I don't love getting up at 3:00-3:30 am to go to work, but I love getting out before traffic gets heavy.
