DFW GN/RN June 2011 Internships

Published

I've seen threads discussing this topic so I'm hoping to combine all of the discussions and include everyone.

Who else is applying to June GN/RN internships is the Dallas and Fort Worth area? Where have you applied and what feedback have you received? Does anyone who applied to previously posted internships and got accepted or rejected have any advice for us?

Personally I'm a BSN Dec 2010 grad with a new TX RN license and I've applied to any openings I could find in the ED and women & infant services as well as a few random telemetry and critical care spots. I have had 1 phone interview and I have a phone interview and in-person interview scheduled for next week. Im keeping my fingers crossed that something will go well!!!

Good luck to all of us new grads in this tough job market!! :redpinkhe

She emailed me not too long after I sent you that PM. Still debating if I'm going to go. My dad lives in Dallas so I would have to drive from houston to dallas to texoma. Texoma is like 80 miles from his house. I really wanted something in maternal-child and so far they wont have anyone there in that department. So I'm still deciding. If I don't go another hospital in dallas is going to have their internship posted soon. Thanks again for all your help

Is anyone else just hearing from Baylor Critical Care? I thought they had forgotten about me so I've already verbally accepted a position for Critical Care in the DFW area; but then today I get this e-mail asking for a phone interview for Baylor. I'm so happy yet torn at the same time because I have to turn in my HR paperwork this Friday to the facility that offered me a job, but at the same time I'd love to work for Baylor. I just don't want to decline a job for an interview that doesn't guarantee me a position! I applied to Baylor at the beginning of March!! The thing is, I don't know if I'm signing a committment for a certain amount of time this Friday, but I don't want to burn any bridges for future employment. I feel very blessed to have had 5 interviews different places and I don't want to complain. Just frustrated with how things have been working out lately. Haha, guess God has a way of putting us where we are most needed right now.

Yikes! What a great..yet anxious...position to be in! Luckily, I got offered my first choice so even if I was called by somewhere else, I would still go with my first choice. And don't take me as being anti-Baylor because they flat-out rejected me:lol2: but a job in the hand is better than one (or 2 or 5) in the air. It's not guaranteed that you'll get the Baylor position. You ALREADY have the other position. Why risk losing that one for "maybe" getting the other one??

Thank you Lovelymo79. I am still going to interview but I definitely agree that a job in hand is better than an "if".

Phone interview went really well. Scheduled for an Interview in person Friday. They said they would let me know immediately...which is great because I'd have to sign with the other position in the afternoon. I'd love to work in the CVICU!!! Good luck to everyone applying and congrats to all the one's graduating!

I have been working as an LVN for nearly 2 years making just shy of $20. I have a friend that graduated from TCU and started working at Harris down town after her internship for their ICU and started at like $22 with her BSN. I just finished my ADN and am waiting for my authorization to test. She says Harris's internships are full for June and there weren't any until December! Is this true! I know I'll just be starting out but I was hoping for a much better salary and not having to wait til December to get my wheels going. I don't want to be stuck in rehab! Anyone have any advice! Sincerely, Sucks-to-be-new-not-yet-grad...

It is true that most of the new grad internships are filled by this point. The next round will start to post in September/October/November for January internships.

There are so many applicants for these internships; it's getting really competitive. I was offered a position with Baylor CVICU yesterday and had to professionally tell the other facility I was unable to sign with them yesterday. Good luck to all of you out there!

On a side note: Does anyone know of a good place to live that's not a bad commute to Baylor Dallas?

I would like to instill some hope for the new grads or "old" new grads that are seeking employment. After several interviews, I finally received a job offer last Friday. I graduated last December but stayed home with my newborn. Started looking this spring.

There is very good advice on this thread, as to how to obtain an interview/employment. I tried a little bit of everything: calling to follow up on submitted online applications and emailing. Emailing was my favorite. Good luck to everyone looking and persistance is key.:)

I needed to hear some encouraging words today. So tired of being rejected. Hope I can find something once I take and pass my NCLEX :)

Does anyone have any contact information they'd like to share for managers or nurse recruiters? I am still looking...granted I just graduated, but have been applying since before graduation. I have yet to get an interview, and while I know the job market is saturated, there are obviously still openings since some nurses are getting good news. Congrats by the way to everyone with a job!!! :yeah:
