I've seen threads discussing this topic so I'm hoping to combine all of the discussions and include everyone.
Who else is applying to June GN/RN internships is the Dallas and Fort Worth area? Where have you applied and what feedback have you received? Does anyone who applied to previously posted internships and got accepted or rejected have any advice for us?
Personally I'm a BSN Dec 2010 grad with a new TX RN license and I've applied to any openings I could find in the ED and women & infant services as well as a few random telemetry and critical care spots. I have had 1 phone interview and I have a phone interview and in-person interview scheduled for next week. Im keeping my fingers crossed that something will go well!!!
Good luck to all of us new grads in this tough job market!! :redpinkhe
How long did it take for you to get your ATT? That means you have your GN permit as well also, right?
I'm asking because I'm coming from Jersey and I start orientation (in-class training) on June 20th. I sent in my application (they've already cashed the check)and 2 sets of fingerprints (just in case 1 wasn't good enough). I've also already registered for NCLEX. The only thing that is holding me up is my affidavit saying I am eliglible to graduate. I won't get that done until June 9th (end of my Leadership course -- I graduate June 15th). I just want to make sure I have everything in time for when it's time for my on-the-floor training.
When I was waiting for my ATT I called and asked the BON how long it should take and they said 10 business days after receiving all of your info.
If you want to take the test ASAP I found that dates become available late at night due to people canceling their tests. Its usually only 2-3 days in advance but it really helped me because after I waited for weeks my test date was cancelled due to snow and I was NOT going to wait another month.
Good luck on NCLEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just went to the BON's website and found this: Upon deeming you eligible to take the NCLEX, you will receive an email verification from Pearson/Vue giving you the authorization to test (ATT) and instructions on scheduling the test. Upon receiving the ATT, you will have 75 days to take the exam. If eligible for a graduate nurse (GN) or graduate vocational nurse (GVN) permit, the permit will be posted online within five working days of deeming you eligible to take the exam.
So, I guess once you get your ATT, you'll be granted a GN permit within a week and you can probably find it online.
Good luck guys!
I received my ATT within a week and my GN permit I think the next day or two days after receiving my ATT.
@meggo, I'm in talks with two recruiters since posting this message, so hopefully I will find something then, but I'm not stressing. I'll get something eventually. It's a little more difficult when you don't live in Dallas, but I will be heading there next week to continue my stalking. There are a few GN internships still open per the nurse recruiters I talked to, so all hope isn't lost :-)

You can get the number to a hospital's HR department from their website and once you call just ask for a nurse recruiter who deals with GNs or internships. If they don't answer the phone just leave a message explaining who you are and what position you are interested in.
Its pretty late in the game to begin talking to the recruiters about positions that begin this summer so that could be why you aren't getting responses. Maybe if you are aggressive enough with calling, emailing, and using your school contacts you can get one of the remaining positions. I graduated in Dec and when I tried calling people in Jan I was told it was to late and that I should try for summer positions which is what I ended up having to do. Good luck!!
