I recently took Nutrition on line and it literally kicked my rear. I got an A, but the anxiety from not knowing what would be on the test was crazy. Our teacher would tell us to study everything and the weirdest stuff would show up on the test.
Is Developmental Psychology as hard as Nutrition. Or would this be easier than Nutrition to take on-line?

I found dev psych to be incredibly boring and easy. Lots of memorization - Piaget, Maslow - and lots of bulldinky.

I took it online and it was really easy. My professor was very laid back though. We read chapters each week and had a discussion( like a bulletin board type thing) due each week and a written assignment every few weeks. We had optional study sessions on campus that outlined the final and midterm. I got an A and it didn't seem stressful. Try finding a good teacher for either classroom or online, that way you get a good professor no matter which format you decide. I know it seems slightly juvenile, but try ratemyprofessor.com, it's never steered me wrong :)

I'm taking Developmental Psychology this semester in a classroom and it is a WASTE OF TIME!!!!
I'm taking it this Fall (the other half of the course), Distance Learning. I can better spend that 3 hours studying instead of listening to a professor that talks about everything EXCEPT the material.

Kind of an individual preference...I took Human Growth and Development online and spent that time either reading the book, doing take-home quizzes, or showing up for the mid-term and the final. NOT rocket science by any means. I took psychology many years ago in the classroom (pre-internet) and enjoyed it. BUT, you are stuck spending a lot of time being required to show up for class in addition to the reading, studying, etc.
For many of these types of classes, I prefer online. You might ask around on campus and in the counselor's offices what they hear about the different sections offered for this course. Fellow students are always a great resource to get the skinny on the best way to go.
Good luck!

wdwpixie is right...the only reason that I don't like my course is because we discuss news articles in class every day, but never talk about what is in the book...if we did, I probably would prefer to take a classroom version.

Developmental Psych can be challenging, depending a lot on the instructor and how they prepare the students for tests. My prof last quarter had an EXCELLENT distance-learning psych manual that covered the essential material. It included study guides, along with questions you needed to be able to answer (to understand the concepts).
You had to read & understand & remember the main points from each chapter - it wasn't an easy course, but the tests were challenging & fair.
If you're thinking about doing it online, see if you can talk to any students who are currently doing it that way, or you could also look on http://www.ratemyprofessors.com for a review of the prof for that class.

I took it in a classroom and it was extremely easy in my opinion. I thought nutrition was easy too, though. I think once you figure out what they expect for the tests, you're golden. But I think it would be a time-saver to take it online and it's definitely not difficult (not anymore difficult that general psych. in my opinion). Good luck!!

I took Nutrition and Dev PSY via SUNY Online. My experience taught me that if I ever have to take an online class in the future I will make sure to contact the professor for a syllabus first. My DEV PSY class was a pain, not because it was hard, but because I had to post so much if I wanted an A. I settled for a B+, because there were times where I just didn't feel like I had anything more to say on a topic.
