I am a Rn with almost 10yrs of experience in medtele, medsurg and outpatient services. My last job was in SC 5months ago because I relocated to El Paso. I live on the East side of El Paso and I am having a though time getting a day shift job. I am a certified Medico-surgical registered nurse and ACLS certified. I thought my resume would be so appealing and I would get many job offers but that has not been the case. I have attended one job interview but I have not had any feedback . Is there something I am missing or not doing? I am getting bored out of my mind? Pls any thoughts, suggestions or advice? It will be greatly appreciated

I know you want days, but sometimes those are hard to come by. Maybe try applying for nights then move to days once you are in. Sometimes they have to post day positions but are held out for night shift wanted to transfer to days from nights.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I have 2 children(2yrs and 11month old) and no family to help babysit while I am at work. Husband does 12hr shifts (9am-9pm). I am hoping to put the kids in daycare when I start working.

Perhaps an 11p-7a and nap while they are in school or care until a dayshift opens

I am in the same boat in Indiana...excellent experience, etc, but lost my dayshift job to office politics. Had to go to nights shift 12 hour shifts in a LTC. I'm happy to have the job, but the hours are killing me. If it were 8 hour shifts, it wouldn't be so bad....I'm just holding in there, as all the 8 hour jobs are gone from this area, so changing to another facility is not a viable either. Prayers and (((((hugs))))) for us all! I'm a RN, BSN with 10 years experience, and have held multiple certifications. TG my S/O is supportive. I couldn't get through this alone! He works days, M-F 7a-3p

Does he work 9-9 seven days a week? If not then there is an opportunity to take an alternate shift and work your way to days.
I hate to say it, but many hospitals have a rule that needing daycare is not reason to have a less tenured nurse jump a head of another. And frankly working nights would solve your day care issues.

Many same day surgery centers out there now. They hire per diem, part time and full time. No nights, weekends or holidays. Recovery would be your best bet. Not critically ill pts like inpatient surgery. Pre op comes in early 5-530 am but recovery comes in around 7-8 am. Depends on the center but my facility has hired nurses with your amount of experience. Something worth looking into. Good luck.

Is working for an agency a possibility?

For you to get a day job, an additional one has to be created or someone has to quit or retire from a day job.
Neither of those things are happening very often in this economy.

There's plenty of insurance jobs in El Paso which are Monday- Friday
That makes me wish I could relocate! Good luck on the job search
Thanks for your support and suggestions. I have attended two interviews with no job offers yet. Could anyone help me with some names of insurance companies that are hiring?
