Geez, I volunteer @ a hospital where I have seem more than my share of ugly scrubs! Interested to know what's the ugliest you have seen out there. I have 2 that come to mind:
(1) NASCAR race cars .. everywhere, ugh!
(2) A black and white top from afar upon closer inspection reveals it's a skull and crossbones design .. OK it was around Halloween but seriously? As a patient I would get creeped ...
Personally, I wish the RNs would wear scrubs that identify them apart from LPNs, CNAs or techs. They ALL look the same! Gotta freaking look for a badge that is not always prominently displayed .. but I digress ...
the scrubs that i wore in nursing school were hideous! we had to wear bibs. yes! bibs!!! and when we rotated through pediatrics, we had to wear sesame street and blue's clues bibs. smh.
that's awful enough, now imagine me a 6'0" tall muscle guy with those scrubs on walking down the hallways i would shoot my leg if i had to wear them ...now the bibs maybe...
I saw some scrubs in UA catalog that were a really nice shade of yellow and lavender...the only problem was that there was a HUGE bow in the front of the scrubs that went down to the pants! Who would wear those!!
I cannot stand when people wear the scrubs that have the spandex on the side of tops and around the waist on the pants. I know they are for more flexibility, but shouldn't they be the right size though. It just does not look right when you bend over abd you have to pull your pants up and top down!

Good clothing worn a size or two too small always looks bad. Too short, too tight...too silly.
I actually like the tops you describe; it's not really more flexibility (after all, it's not like a baggy top is inflexible!) that makes them a good choice sometimes. It's because it tends to make the slightly wider woman look a bit thinner, IF the top is the right size in the first place. Worn tightly, it only accentuates those bulges. Worn correctly, it does give an illusion of a slimmer silhouette. How do I know? Because when there's five or ten pounds too many, this top lets me "cheat" until I drop 'em!
