DePaul's MENP Fall 2011

U.S.A. Illinois

Has anyone else applied to DePaul's MENP program for the Fall 2011 term? If so, has anyone heard back from them?

Yeah I suppose. I origionally wasn't even going to apply until the Spring because I am missing so many but I figured it would be better to at least get my application out there. I'm sure I will reapply I just don't really want to waste my time if I don't have a chance the second time around

Does anyone else have their CNA?

No letter yet. and yes I have my CNA.

Have you worked as a CNA or are you just certified as one? Has anyone else applied to other entry MA programs or ACCL BA?

I have worked as one in a hospital (in a hospital a CNA is called a patient care tech (PCT) for the past 2 summers and am working there again this summer.

@nibs

Hi, I just wanted to reply to nibs question regarding stats. This is the first time I've replied but have found your guys' questioning really helpful. Sorry for the delay in responding, I suppose I was just taking the slacker route and not helping out.

I have gotten the admitted students tab, I noticed last night after checking your guys' posts.

I went to IU--3.68 GPA in Elementary Education/ an assortment of business, humanity, language classes before switching my major. I suppose I had some AP classes from high school.

Experience--I worked at a integrative family clinic for a few months, was thinking that would count as pretty legit experience, but then after realizing what other people's experience is, that I was being pretty naive....or ended up lucky.

My pre-reqs. Last semester I was maybe going to go chiropractic or PA, so the classes I had grades for were Genetics, Chem I and II, and Physiology I. I lucked out and got A's in each of those classes, some by the skin of my teeth. Currently, I am taking O Chem and Anatomy--I think I'll likely end up with an A and B.

You seem to have had a good GPA...and maybe you're one of the ones that mentioned CNA experience? I definitely think you would have had a decent shot this time, and if not for sure next time. It seems a little like a misfit, but I suppose I don't know the details. Sometimes, places I've worked in the past, the 'waitlisted', ones initially not planned on being there, ended up being the best in the group, leaders of the pack. That was true for a camp I worked at...random comment, but true.

*misfit that you're not in

@Natka 303 Which health care clinics abroad? That sounds pretty cool.

@bring1, during a several-week trip to SE Asia, I spent part of my time there volunteering in a family health clinic in Siem Reap, one of the major cities in Cambodia. I did some unpaid interning at the Univeristy of Warsaw's medical school a few years back too but that was more shadowing than hands-on.

@bring1:

I think my big problem is that I only have A&P I completed with an A. Inorganic and A&P II are in progress with A's, but that probably doesn't mean much to DePaul until the courses are complete. I'll be taking orgo over the summer. So only having 1 out of the 4 prerequisites completed isn't very good, but I'm still hoping that maybe I got waitlisted. I don't have my CNA which may also be a problem because everyone seems to have a lot of experience. All I've done is shadow a NP and volunteer as a Wish Granter for Make-a-Wish and neither is really health care experience. I did get a good recommendation from a NP that completed the MENP program herself so I figured that might help, but I'm not really sure.

Hi Everyone,

I JUST checked my campus connect, not expecting to see anything (since there has been nothing there the whole time) and I had the immunizations and the admitted students tab! I am SURE they just haven't finished putting everyone's up yet.

I have a 3.5 GPA and got 1300 on my GRE.

No nursing experience and 2 prereqs still in progress.

Hope that helps everyone!

Yay!

I just double checked, and I got in too! My campus connect wasn't updated until this morning either, and I had really given up hope that I got in. I am so relieved!!!

Oh- I had a 3.3 GPA from my bachelor's in music, 4.0 so far in prereqs (1 in progress, 1 to go) and a few years of experience working for a dermatologist as a medical esthetician.

This program is really expensive but I'm trying not to think about that....!
