DePaul's MENP Fall 2011

Published

Has anyone else applied to DePaul's MENP program for the Fall 2011 term? If so, has anyone heard back from them?

Hi. I just checked my campus connect and I have immunization tab on the "Admitted student" section also. Hopefully I am in.

I have a BA in Psychology from UIC with GPA 3.59, so I did not take GRE. AND I do not have ANY nursing experience besides working in a pharmacy as a pharmacy tech (do not know if it counts as experience in medical field for nurses).

Waiting for the letter from DePaul :))

Does DePaul ever waitlist people?

I don't know for a fact that they do, but there are several posts from previous years where people did either get waitlisted or had their applications reviewed way late and got an acceptance last minute. Either way, stick with it! There are so many factors at play in an acceptance, I think that sometimes just an extra successful class, volunteer experience, reworking your personal statement, or all of the above can give the admissions board a good reason to re-consider you.

Yeah I suppose you're right. I'm just somewhat discouraged at this point because I was planning on applying to grad school for something else and then ended up changing my mind. Now I only have A&P I completed with an A. A&P II and inorganic are both in progress. This is unfortunate for me because unless something dramatically changes I will have an A in both courses, but of course they cannot take that into account because I won't be done with them for a few more weeks. Orgo I'm taking over the summer. So technically I could apply again in the spring and have A's in at least 3 of the 4 but I really don't want to take a break so I'm hoping that maybe I could get waitlisted? I'm not really sure if they'll do that or not. =/

Did anyone receive their letter yet?

Nothing yet here

So I found out that I was taken off the waitlist at Rush so I will be declining DePaul as soon as I get my letter. One more spot for one of you I hope!!!

I just emailed admissions, they said the decisions have already been made and we should be receiving them in the mail soon. So basically for those of us without campus connect links I believe we already got the answer. =/ Unless they waitlist applicants then maybe it can change idk.

I got the admitted tab on campus connect - just checked today.

I want to view my financial aid but nothing shows up as of yet. That is my biggest concern. How to pay off 60,000 tuition. Loans here I go :( Anyone else struggling with money issues?

I honestly had a 3.2 gpa so I did not have to take the GRE. I did horribly on the GRE anyway so glad they did not ask for it. Seeing others who got accepted- man you guys had high grades and professional background in something medical. They did chose a good batch thats for sure.

I think what made me get chosen is probably my essay- personal statement on my future goals. Also the pre- reqs they did ask for to fill out on a separate paper. I did pretty well on those as a final grade.

...I am pretty sure there is a wait list. Every school should have those for students who drop out at the last minute due to financial reasons or another schools acceptance.

Best of Luck to everyone...really

Don't be discouraged. I know they admit around 60 students out of the usual 200 applicants that apply. That is a huge number of students accepted ...be patient :)

Was anyone else missing prereqs? I think that probably hurt my application because I only had one completed the other 3 are in progress =/ But my overall GPA is a 3.5 and I also do volunteer work [although not in a medical feild]. I also got a great recommendation from a nurse practitioner. I'm just not really sure if it's the prereqs or if I screwed up somewhere else along the way. If anyone else is willing to share their stats please let me know.

@nibs.. I do not have any updates on campus connect either and also only had 1 and the others were in progress. I'm thinking the prereqs is the reason why. I intern at children's memorial and have my CNA certification. I thought that would be good experience. I had a 3.1 and took the GRE's. Oh well. we cant give up just yet without the letters. There's always the January start date option which is not that far away.

I also have a prereq in progress...
