I am going to take patho this summer through CCConline. You would have to register with one of the local community colleges first and then you can register for CCC online courses.

I mailed my application for the fall BSN program yesterday. Now the wait begins.

While DSON wasn't a school I applied to before we left Colorado, I did take patho online over the summer through CCDenver and it was great. I was a little wary about such a critical course online, but I think having to 'teach ourselves' made it stick better because I was the one talking myself through the material. (Hopefully that makes sense.)

With ccconline, is it 5 credits, since DSON's is 5? I've been hunting around all day trying to answer my own questions but none of the classes offer a 5 credit patho. I'm getting ready to mail my application soon, and I'm so excited/ready to pass out lol

Hmmm... Anybody have any other suggestions? According to the Ccconline website, Oregon residents are unauthorized.

I believe it was 4 when I took it in summer of 2011 so it's more than likely still 4 credits now. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to ya.

DNS credits are actually quarter credits, so 5 quarter credits are equal to 3.33 semester credit hours. To convert, you take the quarter hours and multiple by 2/3. But, I just saw your note about not being authorized in Oregon. Are there any community colleges near you for you to take the class?

I heard good things about Butler, so I might try there, since they are on samuelmerrit as well. My local community college doesn't offer it, and the closest that does I have heard only a couple of people talk about but they weren't good things. Ill probably look into more a little closer, especially the cost and something that is 100% online.

Hi there! I am a DSN BSN student who will be graduating in June! DSN has very challenging quarters (which is to be expected in an accelerated program) and what I mean is they pack a lot of info into 7 quarters. While the first quarter is really hard, I do not think it is necessary to take patho somewhere else, especially now that they have a new teacher who has a 100% pass rate. The old instructor who taught the class (who was my instructor) was REALLY hard and several people couldn't pass the first time, now he is gone though and the new instructor is a lot easier. DSN is an awesome and if you decide to goto school there you will love it. You may get frustrated at late scheduling or the high price from time to time, but for the most part it you'll love it. My advice is, don't get involved in drama and don't let people talk negatively about classes or clinicals. I feel really prepared to graduate, I start my capstone in April in the ICU at Good Samaritan and while I am scared I am mostly excited. It's an awesome school that gives you everything you need to succeed. Good Luck!

Thank you for this! I mailed off my application last month and figure I should hear in the middle of May. What an awesome capstone placement! I am taking patho this summer to basically save money; it is a lot less expensive at my college (anywhere I can save money). Plus, having a lighter load the first quarter is just an additional bonus. Please keep us posted on how everything turns out and any advice to pass on!

Dang I wish I knew you could have taken patho elsewhere -- I would have done that! I start DSN in April. Even though I am not in school yet I have still recommended it to peers. I just got done with the hesi entrance exam and the interview and filling out information for student loans and everything has gone smoothly. They gave me enough time to get all of the paperwork done in time even though I work a full time job! Pretty excited to call DSN my school soon!

How was the interview process and the entrance exam? I am flying to Colorado to do my interview and test in three weeks and just curious about what to expect. :)
