Denver School of Nursing - October 2015 start date

Published

Hello, I applied for the october start date, 2015, at denver school of nursing. I wanted to start a thread for all the hopeful students for this start date. I thought it would be a good support system and ask questions about the school. A little bit about me, I have been an EMT for the last 3 years and I have volunteered my local fire department. I'm graduating this May with an Associated of Science in Biology, pretty much the requirements for the BSN programs with a GPA of 3.6. I really hope I get in, and good luck everyone.

@claudsx21, my GPA 3.6 and for work and volunteer experience goes I volunteered in my local fire department as an EMT with IV certs. I have been there for about 4 years and got voted EMS rookie of the year my first year. My interview is this Friday.

Wow great work! You definitely have alot under your belt already. I only have 5 month of volunteer work so maybe that's where I should increase my expertise. Good luck at the interview! ☺

Volunteer work is good all around. Try volunteering at the local hospital and look into getting your CNA if you don't already. Are you alternate for October start date?

Hey Y'all,

I have an interview next week at DSN and I was curious to see if anyone has talked to the financial aid department? The information on the website is limited as far as outside lender's go :( Also, is anyone going to be moving from out of state to attend DSN?

I hope everyone's interviews go well! Good Luck!

My interview is this Friday and I moving to Denver. I live in the mountains so I will be moving to Denver and looking for a roommate. As far as Financial Aid, I was told that I would be speaking with them during the interview. I filled out FAFSA and had it sent to the school.

I got my CNA license last summer, but just had the time to actually work or volunteer now that all my prerequisites are done finally. Yeah I was placed on the alternate list for October, it's a bit frustrating just cause every other school has many different prerequisites required. I plan on working as a CNA this summer though, trying to find a good place to start for entry level.

That's good, hopefully you get pulled from the alternate list. Do you have to submit another application for October or just keep the other one and have it updated? I've heard a lot of things about DSN and that volunteer experience is a big part of getting accepted. Keep me updated and good luck!

Had my interview today, it was relaxed. I brought in my updated transcript and the other papers she required. I also filled out fafsa before hand and talked with financial aid. I scheduled my HESI received a tour of the school.

They keep my application from July start date and I updated it already, but if I am not selected for October then I will have to reapply if I choose to go there still. Glade the interview went smoothly, let us know what you think of the HESI if it ends up being tough. Did they explain how the schedule would be, if you started their nursing program?

@mtnemstobsn congrats! Did you feel like you were in for sure and just getting things setup then?

Yes, I felt like I was in. She said that the test, HESI was easier than the TEAS which I have taken before so I'm not to worry about but definitely going to do some studying for.

Hi everyone! Has anybody who has been placed on the alternate list for October heard any news? Or does anyone have any info on when people might start hearing back?
