Denver School of Nursing Fall 2008

Post here and introduce yourself if you will be attending DSoN in the Fall of 08!!

Hi! My name is Amy and I will be starting the BSN program in Oct. I am from Southern California and will be moving to the Denver area with my boyfriend in Sept. I am definitely excited to meet new people and see a different part of the country. I think I would like to get into some type of cardiac or pediatric nursing but am still unsure. I would love to learn all about the area of Denver and the great spots for sightseeing, hiking, nightlife, etc.

I can't wait to meet y'all and am excited to be sharing this experience with you! :nurse:

Hi Never2late1,

No, I never looked into the Wells Fargo loan or any other loans. I decided to make payments while in school.

Will you be attending this fall? I think if you decide on attending, everything needs to be turned in by Sept. 3rd unless you have already spoken with someone. Orientation is scheduled for Sept 25 8-12:30pm. Where will you be moving from?

I hope to you see you there.

Hi June

I went to check out the Wells-Fargo health care loan last week, unfortunately the DSON does not offer the loan with the bank, so now I'm gonna go with the Sallie mae. Yes I hope I will be attending this fall and I might see you at the orientation, I turned in all of requirement documents a month ago, I just need to wait to be accepted and work the loan out; I feel like I'm waiting forever despite the fact that I'm waitlisted #1. I will be moving from San Jose, CA

If you decide to make payment while attending school, Do you pay each quarter before you can register for the class? How much is the payment for each quarter?

I'm sure if your #1 on the waitlist you will get in. Do you have a place to stay yet?

Regarding the payment plans, they want you to put down $3000 by September 3rd and $1600 every month until you finish.

Thanks June! I hope so too. I don't have a place to stay yet, but I try to find a place on craigslist. I'm sure by the time I finished the program, I'll be in a huge debt, and work my ass off to pay back :D. If I don't get approved for the Sallie Mae loan, I'll borrow money from my family.

Hi Everyone

My name is Tiffany and I will also be starting the BSN program in the fall @ DSN. I live in Littleton and was born here in Colorado but grew up in Kansas City. There's a reason why I'm back here so those of you moving to Colorado...you will love it-I promise! I'm excited to meet you guys...only a month away. I can't believe how fast the summer went!!! I highly recommend taking the light rail b/c parking can sometimes be a nightmare downtown and you save money on gas! Nice to meet you all!

Hi Army,

I did try to look for you in the class, but could not find you there, so I was wondering what happened

We have been in classes for 4 weeks, and there are alot of reading materials, tests and quizzes keep coming every weeks and this is how the first quarter supposes to be, so I try to hang in there. There are some students from California and other states too. The teachers are helpful and informative, you'll like it there.

For the sallie mae loan, I got approved $36,000 for 15yrs (payback $97,000) with 2 cosigners, but I didn't go for it, I only borrowed $20,000, for 5 yrs and pay $16,000 with cash, so I will end up pay the loan back $25,000.

Good luck to you

If you took the pharmacology and patho already, your schedule would be much better.

Awesome, thanks! I didn't realize we had to take the TEAS test. I already took Patho so that will cut out a large chunk of my schedule. Good luck Quang, I hope to meet you this Winter! :D

It's going great! I'm loving all my classes and teachers. I find it pretty easy as long as Patho was previous taken. I go to school M-W and get out by 2. I'm loving the school alot!

Hello I am new to this and can't quite figure out how to start my own new thread. Anyways I have had an interview at DSON and it seems great except the financing that one has to figure out. Can anyone give me any ideas as to what you have done to finance this. I am thinking I will need the sallie mae loan to cover the cost of attending but I heard you can only get 6000 extra for living expenses. And since we are not supposed to work at the same time I don't think 6000 is gonna support me and my two kids. Anybody any ideas or suggestions. I know you can't get a private student loan because of the accredation issue so I am guessing it's all personal loans.

Hi there,

I just wanted to say it may be beneficial to you to wait until the financial aid dept is up and running. Since DSON just received national accreditation they will be able to offer federal financial aid and grants. I was told they would have a fully operational financial aid dept sometime in April. Hope this helps!
